Hhhhmmmm, what is going on with upcoming SBS drama Sensory Couple? It was formerly called The Girl Who Sees Smells and is based on a popular webtoon of the same name. The drama got a new title but hasn’t gotten a leading lady still. First there was Suzy in talks for the lead role, then Suzy declined claiming conflict with … Continue reading →
I’m not getting any solid feels for the upcoming SBS drama Heard it Through the Grapevine which takes over for Punch on Mon-Tues starting February 23rd. It doesn’t have a buzzy cast, and by buzzy I mean the typical leads that always elicit audience reaction, nor does it have a light sounding subject matter that sounds fun enough for viewers … Continue reading →
If anyone offered to make a life-like replica of me, whether life-sized, doll-sized, or robot-sized, I would scream and run the other direction. Never been a fan of human fascimiles in any form or shape and that includes the popular wax figure attractions that make up the Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum tourist attraction. When news broke this week that popular … Continue reading →
Goodies have to be shared to taste even yummier and this week’s best treat has got to be the first three minutes of this week’s episode 6 from Sunday night SETTV idol drama Someone Like You (Hearing Happiness). The drama is doing solidly in the ratings with a devoted fanbase, and oddly I’m probably less addicted than I ought to … Continue reading →
It’s Lunar New Year on February 19th this year, much later than the usual early February or late January dates during most years. That’s because the Lunar calender only has 30 days in every month so after a few years it gets so out of sync with the seasons and the Gregorian calendar that a month gets added back. That … Continue reading →
Whatever upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Blood has up its sleeve, be it hot mess or watchable entertainment, the long 6-minute preview at least kept my interest. It wasn’t always in a good way, but there was enough juicy thumbs up bits to merit my inclination to check it out. I hope the narration is cut or at least kept to … Continue reading →
When I was growing up and watching tons of Chinese-language historical dramas, most of the time the leading ladies were always ethereally beautiful, but beyond that they always had this grace onscreen like they glided or floated with this out-of-this-world vibe. Later I realized that a lot of C-actresses had classical dance training or ballet either during theatrical schooling or from … Continue reading →
It’s been a nice month-long build up towards the premiere of the C-version of Queen In Hyun’s Man. The drama Love Through a Millennium starts this Sunday and airs two episodes a week every Sun-Mon similar to the typical Korean drama airing schedule rather than the frenetic C-drama airing of two short episodes a night all week long. This drama … Continue reading →
For those (still) watching Hyde, Jekyll, Me, the big twist at the end of this week’s episode 8 felt like a much needed jolt to the heart, didn’t it? Revealing that Sung Joon‘s supporting psychiatrist/hypnosis expert was the Big Bad was exactly the thing needed to raise the stakes by giving viewers someone meaty for Seo Jin/Robin to confront rather … Continue reading →
I invariably want to reach in there and hug Lee Jun Ki for always managing to put a smile on my face. My boy has been in China since last December filming the upcoming romance C-movie with actress Zhou Dong Yu and now the first stills are out. and are soooo cute! The Chinese title is Under the Silician Sun … Continue reading →
It’s pretty neat how one awesome performance can change the perception and opinion of an entertainer, and even better if it comes after years of slow and noticeable improvement. Lee Yeon Hee has rocketed up my list of K-actresses to watch even if I am a tad worried that her Miss Korea flower-vase-breakout role could end up being a fluke. … Continue reading →
The big-budget, big name cast (not to mention big bosomed) period C-drama The Empress of China is wrapping up after a wild seven weeks run that included censoring, wonky editing, and WTF historical inaccuracy all around. This wasn’t an idol drama and actually had legit cred with acclaimed C-actress Fan Bing Bing playing the Tang dynasty Empress Wu Zhe Tian, … Continue reading →
The imminent arrival of the C-version of Queen In Hyun’s Man brings back all my positive memories of the drama and none of the problems I had with it. It’s gotten the official English title of Love Through a Millennium which is a literal translation of the Chinese title 相爱穿梭千年. The drama premieres this Sunday night and airs two episodes … Continue reading →
