I’m starting to get wistful over Joseon Gunman heading into the second-to-last week of its run. Thanks to Iron Man this drama got a 2-episode extension to end next week at episode 22 rather than saying farewell this week already. I’m quite pleased with everything about JG even including the extension which hasn’t sapped the energy away from the story … Continue reading →
I want to start off this episode 4 recap of My Secret Hotel by saying a thank you and a fare thee well to screenwriter Kim Ye Ri. She passed away in her fight with cancer during the production of MSH and ended up only penning the first four episodes of this drama, though she did map out the entire story … Continue reading →
It’s the year of Aaron Yan in Taiwanese entertainment and we are all living with him just living it up. Since starring in the Friday night drama Just You with Puff Guo last year, he’s been on a nonstop tear releasing singles like last year’s “Taipei Sleeping” and “Unstoppable Sun” followed by two mini-albums this year with Drama and Cut. … Continue reading →
I feel like the upcoming K-drama version of Iron Man could be the drama that keeps on giving….in unintentional hilarity that is. I know Lee Dong Wook has plenty of fangirls and I find him quite good looking and easy to watch onscreen as well. But it has to be said that he’s one of the biggest over-actors around, and heck … Continue reading →
I’m going to count my lucky stars for each episode of My Secret Hotel that remains cracktastically good. I won’t take this drama for granted and once again if it buckles in the second half at least the beginning gave me such sweeping stirring feels right off the bat. Episode 3 was all about setting the stage for the murder … Continue reading →
I don’t think any rational consumer of entertainment would ever assume that any star was infallible or incapable of making mistakes and/or breaking the law. The question really comes down to the nature of any transgression and whether it’s personally offensive enough to write the star off going forward. The Kim Hyun Joong domestic violence allegations are important because he’s … Continue reading →
Watching Super Junior launch promotions for its first album release in two years gives off the happy wave of nostalgia. I know these boys aren’t that old nor do I think their time has passed, but in the fast-changing landscape of Kpop it’s pretty clear SuJu is like the daddy or granddaddy nowadays. I don’t mind young or old as … Continue reading →
I’m actually quite pleased that both A-list Korean stars Kang Dong Won and Song Hye Kyo are focused almost exclusively in doing movies. I don’t love either one to the point where I want them on the small screen so I can have a few weeks to watch them all the time. Plus I think their star power actually suits movies more, there is … Continue reading →
It’s fairly certain now that SETTV made an empty promise in an attempt to mine a popular drama for more than it was worth. The network’s popular coming-of-age college drama In a Good Way wrapped up last May with a promise from the network that a movie version was forthcoming to wrap up the drama. That made the open ending more palatable, … Continue reading →
I can’t force myself to love a drama neither can I stop it when the train departs the station with me riding shotgun on a brand new exciting journey. I’ve unexpectedly hopped onboard the My Secret Hotel train and all signs point to yes when it comes to this drama having what I desire the most from my rom-coms. It … Continue reading →
I’m grateful for little things in life, and one of them is for being able to blog about Yoo Seung Ho during what will be the prime of his career. My baby boy has been in the army for a year and a half now and is actually coming back in early December. The exact date is December 4th and … Continue reading →
Everyone can probably use some happy news to wrap up this week and hopefully herald a better upcoming week in Asian entertainment news. August has been brutal in more ways than the deadly heat. Two cross-border top celebrity marriages made the headlines this week for releasing wedding photo shoots and the pairings are cute in that it’s flip-flopped. Top C-actress … Continue reading →
After what felt like an interminable wait from Kim Hyun Joong‘s agency Keyeast in responding to the news reports that the police was investigating the singer-actor for assault and battery on his girlfriend, the agency has just released an official statement that reeks of spin. Sadly even the most adept spin doctor can do nothing in mitigating the damaging allegations … Continue reading →
