The 2014 K-drama couples reunion train keeps on chugging along and if this one comes true then it’s yet another notch in the rarified thrice-paired-up column. Jang Hyuk and Lee Da Hae are the most famous and prominent three time costars first with Bulhandang (Robber), then came Chuno (The Slave Hunters), and finally they landed in the quagmire of IRIS … Continue reading →
Bear with me as I lay out all the facts of this started off random and suddenly got even weirder casting call for an upcoming Korean-Chinese collaboration movie. The movie is adapted from a popular online C-novel called Xia Yo Qiao Mu, Ya Wang Tian Tang (夏有乔木，雅望天堂) and really has no meaning other than sounds really elegant in Chinese and … Continue reading →
Even if KBS fails (yet again) at doing a rom-com right from start-to-finish, at least it’s once again starting off right with Discovery of Love premiering next Monday. While it has been three years since Eric did a drama with the crazy Spy Myung Wol, he’s been busy with his singing career and variety shows so I feel like he’s … Continue reading →
This might be the weakest Mon-Tues line up in recent memory with all three dramas neither getting any buzz nor ratings. Temptation is actually intriguing without being tawdry but the subject matter isn’t for everybody while Lovers of Music (Trot Lovers) has a plot written by a monkey who watched too many K-dramas and is pasting together the worst tropes … Continue reading →
It has been the utmost pleasure watching Kim Yoo Jung grow up for the last decade before the eyes of K-drama viewers. Unlike child stars like Kim Sae Ron who broke out in high profile Chungmuro with movies like The Man From Nowhere (Ahjusshi), Kim Yoo Jung has been the go-to drama child actress for the better part of her … Continue reading →
There’s a genuine nerve-wracking frisson of worry that flits by anytime I come across updates for the upcoming SBS music rom-com My Lovely Girl (My Lovable Girl, She’s So Lovable). A rom-com always gets my interest purely because I’m always hopeful that this could be the elusive one that will get it right. When Rain signed on to the drama … Continue reading →
I’m so happy to finally see a good preview from the upcoming tvN sageuk drama Three Musketeers, which is the transplanted to Joseon version of the famous novel story for those who haven’t been keeping track of the development and filming of this drama. I found the early stylish teasers a fail for not being stylish enough to win on … Continue reading →
A super exciting J-dorama is on the horizon that promises epic bromance and the well-executed crime fighting detective procedurals that Japan does so much better than Korea or Taiwan. TBS is adapting the popular shonen manga Ouroboros: Keisatsu wo Sabaku wa Ware ni Ari into a Winter J-dorama starring Oguri Shun and Ikuta Toma. It’s been 7 years since the … Continue reading →
There are really no superlatives used to describe Bolin Chen‘s acting talent and charisma that is not deserved. He’s just that good and it’s sad that most viewers know him through the drama In Time With You, which was a rare television appearance from this movie star, rather than his excellent resume of Taiwan movies. Start with Blue Gate Crossing … Continue reading →
Not watching Fall in Love with Me hasn’t been that bad a trade off since I get to check out plenty of pretty Aaron Yan drama stills without needing to wade through the plot insanity and bad acting. I can believe that some viewers can get past Tia Li‘s bad acting enough to enjoy the OTP storyline and chemistry but … Continue reading →
Lee Jong Seok is vaulting to the Hallyu big leagues whether he’s ready to or not with the news that he’s joining previous endorsement models Lee Min Ho and Kim Soo Hyun in repping major Chinese male fashion brand Semir. The endorsement deal is only for Chinese markets so the addition of Lee Jong Seok confirms that the one-two punch … Continue reading →
There’s a cute and worthwhile cause happening in Taipei on August 10th for folks who are able to attend. SETTV is holding a charity sale with all proceeds to go to the recovery efforts for the Kaohsiung gas explosion tragedy last week. The event this Sunday from 3pm until 5 pm at SETTV headquarters and the line starts forming at … Continue reading →
Everything about Iron Man gives off the whiff of something wrong cooking. KBS tried desperately to lure Ji Sung to the project after he delivered unexpected success with the melodrama Secret (Secret Love) but alas it was a no go. Then KBS admitted it was in talks with the unearthed overacting relic that is Park Shin Yang and even he … Continue reading →
