Big news on big budget period C-drama Flourished Peony with Yang Zi and Li Xian and I’m of mixed thoughts on it. The S+ budget drama is confirmed to have 60 episodes which is rare these days after the ban on dramas longer than 40 episodes to cut down on story filler, Flourished Peony appears to have a lot of story to tell so it will go forth as a longer drama and air in two parts, the first part is 36-episodes and the second part 24-episodes. Now where have I seen this before? Oh yes, Lost You Forever, which actually filmed over 70 episodes originally but after the ban aired part 1 as 39-episodes and part 2 in an absolute clusterfuck of slice and dicing went down to 23-episodes and ruined the entire drama. That, and also the year long break between airing the two parts. Apparently the production of Flourished Peony will not wait a year between parts and intends to air the second part immediately after it gets approval whenever that happens. Alrighty then, let’s see how this one plays out.
