This Friday’s Baeksang Awards in Seoul was probably a night of little to no surprises (just one big one) and a lot of satisfied winner picks. The Park Eun Bin and Song Hye Kyo race for Best Actress ended with the former taking home the Drama Daesang for Extraordinary Attorney Woo becoming the youngest individual winner for the top prize and the latter winner her first Baeksang Best Actress in The Glory for the first time in her 27-year career. Lee Sung Min continues his Baeksang dominance winning Best Actor for Reborn Rich after winning drama Best Actor for Misaeng years ago and recently movie Best Actor for The Spy Gone North. Best Supporting Actor went to Jo Woo Jin in Narco-Saints (Suriname) and Best Supporting Actress was Yeon Jin herself Lim Ji Yeon in The Glory, both wins were in super tight races. Best Drama went to The Glory, Best Screenplay was Park Hae Young for My Liberation Notes and Best PD was Yoo In Shik for Extraordinary Attorney Woo. The biggest surprise was the night was for movie Best Actor going to Ryu Jun Yeol for The Night Owl with the movie winning Best Film while Decision to Leave took the movie side Daesang.
Congrats to PEB she completely deserved this. She’s supper talented and hard working,it was a slow steady rise from child actress. Om other news WHO DRESSED SOME OF THESE PEOPLE? I don’t even know men’s wear but some of those suits made me sad. This is supposed to be one of the biggest nights in k-ent.

@koala, PEB is the second youngest winning ACTRESS for baeksang Daesang TV. Youngest individual winner is Hyun Bin for Secret Garden when he was 29.
Moon Geun-young was 21 when she won Daesang at the SBS Awards and Baeksang Awards for “Painter of the Wind.”
Her Daesang was for a network award, not for Baeksang. World of difference.

The whites and especially beiges wash the actresses out. They look like they’re wearing nightgowns and bridal dresses.
Bae Doona was hands down best dressed.

not a fan of suzy or song hye kyo, but i’m happy they finally proved that they’re more than just pretty faces. i mean, who cares if it took years for song hye kyo to win and suzy to be nominated? it actually shows that not everyone improves in the same pace and everyone has different peaks in their career, some peak earlier, some later (like shk), and that’s okay.
anyway, i’m just happy for all these beautiful, talented women (including the other nominees), they’re all queens in my book 👍
Koala, the youngest individual Daesang (TV) winner in the history of Baeksang is actually Kim Hee Ae who won it in 1993 when she was 26, followed by the 29 y.o. Hyun Bin who received the award when he was serving in the Marines in 2011, and then finally, followed by the 30 y.o. Park Eun Bin this 2023.
Anyhow, congratulations to all the winners! It’s heartwarming because I’ve just witnessed the entire K-drama community sharing the same joyful sentiments and celebrating PEB’s win, especially the fans of the former child actors and actresses who were deeply moved by her acceptance speech where she said her younger self shouldn’t give up on her dreams of being an actress because she may receive a Daesang one day ㅡ and she finally achieved that dream. Beautiful and satisfying.
May PEB’s victory serve as a motivation to her fellow child stars to trust the timing as they keep on honing their skills because if they’re really good, doors will open for them no matter how difficult the industry has become. Their talent and perseverance will definitely be recognized at the right time.
As as I’ve said in my previous posts few articles down is that Best Actor will go to Lee Seung Min, Best Actress to Song Hye Kyo and Daesang to Park Eun Bin. All three are deserving because of the acting skills they have shown.
No need to mention when they got the award koala, by that premise, child actors will have about the same period if you compute their child acting days like park eun bin, 20+ years until they got their own awards.

THE SONG HYE KYO RENAISSANCE IS REAL!! To go from the career low abomination that was nwabu to such a wildly popular show AND win the top honour for her performance :,)) she’s gotten soo much flak for her acting and her personal life over the years so I’m really happy to witness this amazing comeback <3
Now that all of them got an award, I guess fans and antis will finally shut up about who deserves it more.
Lee Sung Min! I am very happy for him, he carried that show exclusively on his shoulders. It was a masterclass in acting.

Well deserved Daesang for PEB , i watched her acting in various projects since years and she did very well in each one even when she had a little part . That’s what i call a real born actress .
Suzy’s dress embodied to some extent the va-va-voom that was missing in formal fashion in K-ent. It looks like she tapped into her inner Black Swan, and speaking of which, it sort of reminded me of the web novel advert she did recently in which her heroine decides to become “selfish” in her rebirth.
LOVE Kim Hieora’s black dress with the slit sides and white bows (and her glowing smile topped it off)!! It looks like Audrey Hepburn’s dress in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” with a playful twist.
Kudos to Roh Yoon-seo’s stylist for not dressing her in pink or beige or white or black. It makes her stand out more in the group of young actresses. Jung Woo-sung would have looked better if his pants were in the same color as his dinner jacket.

SHK’s dress looks like curtains. The gauze kind. PEB reminds me of Encanto and not in a good way. Tang Wei like a bed skirt. Overall just bad, bad, bad fashion choices. From boring to just absolutely terrible.
True. Winners were all deserving of their awards but the fashion was just plain boring. All those high-end brand sponsorships and endorsements yet nothing to show for at awards shows. Fashion just keeps getting worse by the years.
I agree, for someone who’s supposed to be a fashion icon, she sure has such bland red carpet outfits. Not just her, everyone pretty much had such boring outfits. K celebs need to get out of the safe zone and go a little bolder with their fashion choices.
I don’t think any Korean actress can be considered a fashion icon except maybe Bae Doona and Gong HyeJin.
Korean style is driven by the kpop stars. I swear actors dress for the Korean red carpet with the goal of fading into the background, while everywhere else in the world celebs dress to get noticed and become trending.
