Sigh, another cautionary tale of don’t try to do bigger and badder. Sweet Home 2 was released last week on Netflix and the opening ratings by C-viewers on Douban is a low 5.5. Not as woeful as true turkeys like Fireworks of My Heart with 2.8 or Gentlemen of East 8th at 2.1 but still this is a drastic drop … Continue reading →
A big milestone was hit by upcoming xianxia C-drama The Legend of Shen Li (Yu Feng Xing or Journey with the Phoenix), the drama hit 4 million reservations on Tencent this week. It’s Dylan Wang, Cheng Yi, and … Continue reading →
The first BTS pictures are out of Zhao Lu Si in The Legend of Jewelry and it looks like a genuine rags to riches personal growth and evolution story. I’m still perplexed that her fandom so vociferously did not support her doing this drama but it totally makes sense for her. It’s a top billing female lead big budget drama … Continue reading →
I love seeing another talented veteran K-actress get promoted to drama queen status, where an entire story is anchored and revolves around her regardless of who the male lead may be. There is Lee Young Ae, Kim Hee Ae, Kim Hye Soo to name a few and now Honey Lee is headlining her own sageuk as the Night Blooming Flower. … Continue reading →
So the latest news on period C-drama The Prisoner of Beauty with Song Zu Er and Liu Yu Ning is that it may still air. After Song Zu Er’s tax scandal, the government authorities have not banned her either outright or softly, but it’s the entertainment platforms and production companies that don’t want to touch her right now. The Prisoner … Continue reading →
I feel like Park Hye Ryun‘s last drama Start-up, which I loved but ended up being so polarizing with viewers due to the male lead ship wars, made her next drama Castaway Diva turn out so uneventful. This weekend the drama finished it’s short 12-episode run averaging around 7% ratings through its entire run which I attribute to Park Eun … Continue reading →

If confirmed it would be a reunion from their hit drama Under the Power in 2019. Earlier … Continue reading →
A true beauty can be appreciated objectively and C-actress Crystal Liu (Liu Yi Fei) has been known as a goddess from her debut and officially crowned the fairy sister when she played the iconic Xiaolongnu from Return of the Condor Heroes. A new picture from an old event is making the rounds all over Chinese SNS from the 2022 Weibo … Continue reading →
Man, I wish this news was all rainbows and roses but alas it’s mostly that but still has some negativity. The premiere of A Journey to Love has been nearly all praised by critics and netizens alike so yay for the cast and crew. Liu Shi Shi as Ren Ru Yi returns to the small screen in her first period … Continue reading →
The first posters are out for MBC sageuk Night Blooming Flower and oh my gosh it’s just so artistically done. Starring Honey Lee and Lee Jong Won, the two are framed in light and darkness showcasing duality and depth. She’s an older widow of a respectable family but in her nighttime secret life she ventures out to help people incognito. … Continue reading →
I still remember when Sweet Home was released around Christmas in 2020 and wow was it a fun ride. I still like the webtoon better (more character development) but the drama cast well and brought the wild humans turning into their id monsters conceit to life. Today Netflix released Sweet Home 2 on December 1st earlier than the holiday season … Continue reading →
