This year’s 2020 Korean Broadcasting Awards is actually the 47th annual so is quite a long running and established critical body. This year’s live ceremony will be cancelled due to COVID-19 but next week the winners will record their acceptance speeches and be able to virtually accept their awards. Taking home Best Drama is When the Camellia Blooms, with a … Continue reading →
I have some sad news to report, K-actress Hwang Jung Eum dropped a surprise out of nowhere yesterday by filing for divorce unilaterally with the Seoul court. She’s been married for 4 years and the couple has one child, but with how much she works and churns out dramas one after another I actually forgot she was married and had … Continue reading →
I know believe that Kim Hee Sun (and Joo Won) have descended from another space/time to save SBS Fridays lol. The leads of new Fri-Sat drama Alice finally gave the network infusion of life in that time slot and with it also a win in internet searches. Good Data’s last week of August 2020 rankings have Alice as the most … Continue reading →
The best I can say for the first official drama poster for tvN drama Start-Up is that at least all four leads Nam Joo Hyuk, Suzy, Kim Sun Ho, and Kang Hana are posing together rather than this being a bad photoshop. Beyond that it’s just soooooo uninteresting, from their outfitst to their poses to the godawful post-it and file … Continue reading →
This week there is only 1 episode of tvN drama Flower of Evil and by the drama gods was it a dooooooozy of a ride. So much happened and I was tensed up through nearly the entire hour, at least until Hyun Soo and Ji Won realized their love for each other is going to get them to confront all … Continue reading →
Looks like the gumiho is back in the spotlight for the current drama cycle. Another gumiho themed K-drama has finished casting and will be on deck in early 2021 hopefully. Falling Cohabitation (Terrifying Cohabitation) is adapted from the same name webtoon and talks about a girl who swallows a male gumiho’s magical orb and they have to live together. Jang … Continue reading →
I’m getting a combo mix of Goblin and Hotel Del Luna mashed together in the first stills of Lee Dong Wook in upcoming fantasy drama Tale of Gumiho. His character is an immortal male gumiho and totally reminds of me both IU as immortal Man Wol in Hotel Del Luna, that scene when she walks into the press conference with … Continue reading →
This will be the new normal, stores/restaurants/work sites closing down due to possible COVID-19 exposure for a quarantine period. Two weeks ago a bunch of K-dramas abruptly had to pause filming due to possible or actual COVID-19 exposure. One of them being KBS Wed-Thurs musical romance Dol Dol Sol Sol La La Sol which has been gearing up for an … Continue reading →
Do I think Krystal looks believable as a capable South Korean female soldier. For sure no, but then I’m still mega excited about the upcoming OCN action/horror/thriller Search regardless because her emotive delicacy will likely not be required here. If male lead Jang Dong Yoon presents as a soft squishy teenager on his first army tour, then Krystal definitely has … Continue reading →
I’m super loving EVERYTHING about Alice, even if it’s a story about a mother/son duo kick-assing everything back to the way it is and saving humanity from wonky time-travel shenanigans. Kim Hee Sun and Joo Won are the oddest yet totally believable mother/son leads of Alice, trust me it makes sense when you watch it but I can see why … Continue reading →
I’m glad to see a K-drama take a location shoot seriously and expensively without needing to be in an exotic overseas locale. Upcoming highly anticipated human survival and nature drama Mount Jiri will be starting primary filming next month in September 2020. Starring Jeon Ji Hyun, Joo Ji Hyun, and Oh Jung Se, the drama will be filmed on location … Continue reading →
Haha, even I totally can tell that bundled up young whippersnapper is Park Bo Gum. The actor quietly enlisted for military service today, and after 6-weeks of basic training he’s headed for the Navy. Due to COVID-19, he was not able to have a press conference for his upcoming drama Record of Youth and also his agency didn’t allow a … Continue reading →
Two of the supporting characters in recent dramas that made a good impression on me with their respective performances will be working together in an upcoming drama. Jinyoung from When My Love Blooms and Park Kyu Young in It’s Okay to Not be Okay are cast in the upcoming legal drama Demon Judge with already cast male lead Ji Sung. … Continue reading →
