Upcoming tvN drama Memories of Alhambra has a confirmed December 1 premiere date which makes it a Sat-Sun drama. That’s the time slot of tvN’s two most highly rated K-dramas with Goblin and now Mr. Sunshine. If Memories starts high already then trends higher then it can make that time slot the golden goose for tvN and confirms further that … Continue reading →
It’s been a fast decade that TW-actor Mark Chao is celebrating his 10th debut anniversary (and birthday) with a fan meeting in Shanghai this week. Mark exploded out of the gate with his first role as he co-male lead in police drama Black & White with Vic Zhou, and even winning the Best Actor Golden Bell over Zai Zai in … Continue reading →
Following behind the nominations for the Korean Drama Awards come the nominations for the 2018 APAN Star Awards which is on its 6th year now. It’s skewed towards the popular more than elite selection metrics but as always an interesting take on what dramas and actors/actresses are getting recognition in a drama year. The notable names up for the Daesang … Continue reading →
The up-and-coming young K-ent actresses are slowly but surely winning me over. I guess it helps when they transition from screechy second female lead to lead who gets the guy, it’s always easier to like a well-written female lead role. First it was Chae Soo Bin in I am Not a Robot, then Seo Ye Ji in Lawless Lawyer, these … Continue reading →
The return of Yoon Eun Hye to K-drama land is definitely looking promising. She picked a rom-com which I feel is her strong suit and got a long time coming leading man Chun Jung Myung who nearly worked with her twice before. May this be third time’s the charm for them both! Fans have spotted the leads filming Love Watch … Continue reading →
The nominations are out for the 2018 Korean Drama Awards, the 11th year since inception and the picks are quite varied. The most high profile drama nominated is tvN period drama Mr. Sunshine, picking up nods for Best Drama, Best Actor for Lee Byung Hun, Best New Actress for Kim Tae Ri, but hilariously NOT getting a Best Screenplay nomination … Continue reading →
I know plenty of drama viewers have been impressed enough with idol-actor D.O. (Do Kyung Soo) since his debut in It’s Okay, That’s Love, myself included. That was four years ago and he really has maintained the high expectations in his first leading man role in currently airing tvN romantic sageuk drama 100 Days My Prince (Husband for 100 Days). … Continue reading →
K-actress Suzy landed leading roles right out of the gate and always felt like she was playing adult despite debuting as a teenager. Even in her first drama Dream High, she was in high school but not the usual high school what with all the performing arts and career dreams at play. At times I feel like she’s a kid … Continue reading →
It’s a cute coincidence and also a testament to the enduring success of the three actors in question. Most K-drama and K-movie fans. This weekend the Korean box office has a three-way battle for supremacy with three high profile movies premiering on Friday – The Negotiation with Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin, fortune-telling sageuk Feng Shui (Myeong Dang) with … Continue reading →
Talk about synergy and of the most sincere and timely kind. K-pop boy group BTS, and you have to be living under a rock or maybe a far off planet to not have heard of them, inked another first this week as they 7-member group spoke at a UN General Assembly meeting. They were there to support and advocate for … Continue reading →
The transformation of the SBS K-drama with the Korean title Fox Star Bride wasn’t complete yet despite the commencement of filming but now is with a final gift of a different English title. We’re one week away from the premiere of the K-drama adaptation of The Beauty Inside and the production really looks fast and fun. Seo Hyun Jin plays the form-changer in this version, a top star by day and once a week out of the month turns into a different person in age and/or gender. The first change shown in the … Continue reading →
I love me some perfectly tailored Ermenegildo Zegna for my man so I’m familiar with their classic suiting and accessories and find myself rather amused at the brand’s casual offerings. It’s time for the men to walk the brand red carpet as the ladies do it more often with plenty of hits and misses. Joo Ji Hoon was the standout … Continue reading →
