I love Ha Ji Won but she’s getting type cast into a certain action-oriented character role that is starting to limit her range. All her projects in the last few years have had her playing a fighting or sporting role, ranging from Secret Garden to Sector 7 to Korea to The King 2 Hearts. Not to mention she got her … Continue reading →
When I was in Asia last week, the entertainment shows were all covering the expanding barrage of press material and activities associated with the upcoming period wuxia movie Saving General Yang. It premieres early April worldwide which is a pretty ballsy movie for a HK flick. Starring Adam Cheng, Ekin Cheng, Wu Zun, Vic Zhou, and Raymond Lam, among others, … Continue reading →
I love that Han Hyo Joo is so open to experimenting in both her image and her projects. She burst onto the scene in Spring Waltz with her glorious long hair playing the type of bright Candy heroine K-dramas love to trot out onscreen. Since then she was a fresh-faced sageuk ingenue in Iljimae, then she lobbed off her hair … Continue reading →
While I was in Taiwan and Japan these past two weeks, I got to watch a ton of inflight movies. I must’ve hit the motherlode because almost every Asian movie I wanted to watch last year was available on demand and I gorged on them only to be left majorly disappointed (Thieves? Highest grossing K-movie of all time? So overrated … Continue reading →
I was super duper excited last year when the filming began for the period movie Saving General Yang but the excitement sorta died down when the movie got its release delayed. It’s another onscreen adaptation of the historical Song dynasty legendary Yang military family where a kick ass General begat seven equally kick ass sons who all went to war for … Continue reading →
I’m truly baffled by Aibu Saki‘s career in J-ent. She’s an okay actress and pretty enough, but definitely not the usual sweet faced ingenue nor is she the hot and bitchy type that gets all the guys excited. Yet she keeps getting cast in projects with the hottest guys around, not to mention she’s been dating wild thing Nagase Tomoya … Continue reading →
Not only did the C-movie version of Secret Garden the famous K-drama actually film this year, it’s going to be released in three weeks on December 28th. Either mark your calendars because you want to watch it, or if you’re an SG aficionado then this might be your version of D-day. The thing appeared to have filmed in less than … Continue reading →
Before Ethan Ruan went off to enlist in Taiwan’s mandatory service, he filmed a big-budgeted wuxia movie that will shortly be released. The Guillotines is based on a Qing dynasty urban legend weapon called the Xue Di Zi that supposedly could sever a head from its body from a thousand steps away. In wuxia lore this mythical weapon was never … Continue reading →
Woo hoo! Another big-budget cops-and-robbers K-movie is on the horizon, and it stars no less than my I Lub You playing the bad guy for once. I could not be more excited to finally see him unleash his maniacal badassery all over the big screen. Filming has commenced for the movie Stakeout (also called Surveillance or Lookout) starring Jung Woo … Continue reading →
Downside about being Liu Shi Shi this week – attending a movie filming launch event sporting a straight bob hairstyle that does not flatter her gorgeous cheekbones and instead makes her look matronly. Upside about being Liu Shi Shi this week – she gets to make a movie with Vic Zhou! Okay, the upside totally completely unequivocally outweigh the downside. … Continue reading →
Neither Han Hyo Joo nor Go Soo are my actor biases though I do like them very very much, so when I heard the same agency stars were paired up for the upcoming romance K-movie Love 911 (Korean title is called Bandage) I was quite intrigued and mildly excited. The movie filmed earlier this year and the first trailer was … Continue reading →
I need someone to hold me before I collapse from laughing too hard. The first teaser and stills have been released for the upcoming C-movie adaptation of the K-drama Secret Garden, and I swear this looks as bad as I expected it would. And maybe just a smidge worse. Starring Wallace Chung, Tan Wei Wei, and Korean singer-actor Kangta, the … Continue reading →
After turning down the second male lead in Missing You, Chun Jung Myung has stated that his next project will be a movie. His last movie Blue Salt was okay for me, but I do love it when my faves head towards Chungmuro over staying in Yeouido it always means they are scaling new heights in their acting career. This week … Continue reading →
