With the spate of K-drama endings and upcoming drama promotions, I dang almost forgot that Empress Ki is ending next week. This long running sageuk was one I followed from the first episode and proceeded to go on on a wacky and wild roller coaster as the plot dipped and soared through the craziest of narrative twists. Sometimes it worked … Continue reading →
There is the saying that a great opportunity occurs by happenstance and can’t be sought out. It means if one tries to force things it won’t happen, and oftentimes the best things come when one least expects it. In the acting world, actors have been known to apply the saying to perfect roles can only be lucked into. We’ve all encountered … Continue reading →
New drama alerts drop pretty consistently but I only have the bandwidth to post about the select few that strike my fancy. Even though Tang Yan isn’t anywhere near my list of favorite C-actresses, and even manages to annoy me when she often overacts, lately she’s been hitting up drama after drama that I want to watch. This week her … Continue reading →
Freedom means something different to everyone but the meaning of the word resonates no matter how tied down or free a person is in life. It’s a genuine rarity to find a thoughtful and carefully written TW-drama like In a Good Way but all good things must come to an end. As viewers we still have a few episodes left … Continue reading →
There are some magazine pictorials and go just over my head. Perhaps it’s too high brow or simply unattractive to make a point. The just released W Korea pictorial of the gorgeous Hyun Bin riding a horse on the beach is just a concept that is beyond me. Or maybe it’s not meant to have a concept and someone just … Continue reading →
Sold! Just on how adorable Liu Yi Hao and Puff Guo look together making their first appearance as a couple for the upcoming SETTV Friday night drama, I’m totally checking these two out no matter what. If the story turns out good then I’ll stay for the long haul. The cast of the currently airing Friday night drama In a … Continue reading →
There are so many K-entertainment shotgun marriages over the years it’s such a rarity to see the super reverse happen. Long time couple Han Ga In and Yeon Jung Hoon have been married for nine years now and are finally expecting a baby! Yeon Jung Hoon’s agency confirmed the happy news and said Han Ga In was currently just seven weeks … Continue reading →
The somber mood in K-ent continues this week even as dramas have gone back to regular programming. The Sewol ferry sinking has dominated news headlines in South Korea and with it the entire nation is in an emotional state of mourning even as unaffected people continue on with their daily lives. The drama wrap parties for this week’s two ending … Continue reading →
Today God’s Gift: 14 Days wrapped up in what amounts to a giant slap in the face to its small but loyal group of viewers. This drama never garnered ratings but generated a good amount of buzz due to the best thing about it – the performance and character of male lead Jo Seung Woo. The unnecessarily twisty and turny … Continue reading →
When the Gods live so long in Lost You Forever, months is really days and years really months and hundreds of years merely a year the way we experience it. Hence waiting has less duration and more a feeling of holding onto a hope. Jing’s fifteen year promise with Xiao Yao is long over since she’s slept thirty-seven years in a … Continue reading →
With all the drama preemptions in the last few days, start getting used to the next batch of upcoming dramas getting pushed back premiere dates. Triangle won’t be one of them since Empress Ki airs on Mon-Tues so last week’s episodes aired prior to the ferry tragedy while MBC elected to not preempt this week’s episodes. That means we’ll be … Continue reading →
I find myself increasingly interested in the upcoming SBS drama Dr. Stranger genuinely because of the plot. It sounds so wacky but might be wacky enough to work. Lee Jong Seok plays a South Korean born but North Korean educated genius surgeon who escapes the regime and ends up working in a top notch hospital in Seoul. He’s been recruited … Continue reading →
The preemption of K-drama and variety shows stemming from the Sewol ferry sinking tragedy last Wednesday continues into this week somewhat. The major networks have started airing some nightly K-dramas but cable channel jTBC elected to cancel the airing of Secret Love Affair this week. That means no new episodes and episodes 11 and 12 will instead air next Mon-Tues. … Continue reading →
