I love Kim Myung Min’s acting and in dramas alone he’s tackled so many indelible archetypes and made each on completely different. It’s high time he’s played a lawyer and tomorrow MBC premieres it’s transformed-man-legal-drama A New Leaf (Repentance). Co-starring Park Min Young, Kim Sang Joong, Chae Jung Ahn, and fresh off Empress Ki playing fan favorite Tal Tal Jin Yi Han, … Continue reading →
Okay, I’m totally ready for my allergy to Lee Jong Seok to get cured. Not sure it will, but if it happens after I watch Dr. Stranger then so be it. I still think he looks weird but I’m quite liking his character in this drama and a good character plus performance can always win me over. The production of … Continue reading →
I was traveling this past weekend so couldn’t get to episode 23 of In a Good Way until now which was a good thing. The drama is still very lovely but noticeably lacks the sparkle that would keep a viewer riveted to the screen. What sustains the pleasurable hour spent with it is the feeling of comfort and consistency. I … Continue reading →
There was a veritable drama promotional dump today as four of the most high profile upcoming K-dramas all released official drama posters. Well, Dr. Stranger released a few already but decided to throw one more in the mix. The latest one is actually quite interesting and visually nice to look at with a paint splatter look so the more and merrier, … Continue reading →
It’s time for me to finally finally say goodbye to the now completely ape-shit bizarre sageuk drama that is Empress Ki. The only main character left in the drama that is decent and upstanding and kindhearted has just gone to the great sageuk death party in the sky. With just one episode left until it wraps up tomorrow with episode … Continue reading →
KBS delayed the premiere of Big Man intentionally for two weeks after its predecessor Beyond the Clouds (Full Sun) finished up its run in the Mon-Tues time slot. The intention was to avoid the ratings dominance of Empress Ki, but someone over at KBS couldn’t count because Big Man would have needed to be delayed for three weeks to dodge … Continue reading →
The nominations are out for the 50th annual Baeksang Arts Award which will be held a month from now on Mary 27th. There is a separate section for movies and television and this post will only discuss the television section. I haven’t caught most of the nominated movies yet so I don’t have any opinion value to add other, other than … Continue reading →
I like Kang Sora a lot because she’s one of the few among the young actresses that doesn’t rely on the cute or the charm to buoy her acting. That’s not to say she’s not cute or charming but merely an appreciation for how she acts first and then her natural ease on the eyes is like the cherry on … Continue reading →
I don’t recall any producer/screenwriter who gets as much hate as Yu Zheng does in China, and frankly it’s all well-deserved. He hasn’t churned out a single watchable drama yet his dramas keep bringing in the ratings. Last week C-ent was abuzz with the biggest news concerning Yu Zheng’s currently airing Gong 3, a drama that even when I watched … Continue reading →
There is apparently a love triangle in the upcoming MBC drama Triangle (har har), which isn’t surprising but for the fact that I’ll go out on a limb and predict the end pairing. The synopsis says Jaejoong, Baek Jin Hee, and Im Shi Wan will be involved in a messy love triangle with one girl and two brothers. To keep the … Continue reading →
Japan is the land of mangas and my go-to source for my manga crack fix on a regular basis when dramas aren’t enough to scratch the itch for a good story. Japan has also done a laudable service in transforming its mangas into live-action form whether in doramas or movies and I’m always ready to give them the benefit of … Continue reading →
Something is afoot in Johnny’s tightly run ship, that or he’s given up trying to keep under wraps the long rumored and much eyewitness accounts of the dating relationship between Arashi’s Matsumoto Jun and actress Inoue Mao. Of course this would be gossip fodder in any context of two top stars dating, but place it in the world of Hana … Continue reading →
I’ve already got a great jump start on my weekend full of fun but I have an inkling it’ll get even better because I ran across something super lucky. What are the chances that two of my faves will cross the strait and land in the same magazine cover? Pretty slim, especially since one is a seasoned actor and the … Continue reading →
