I guess it’s a good thing the upcoming KBS drama Secret is a modern story otherwise I can’t imagine how the production would fare if it was a sageuk and there is four weeks remaining before it’s scheduled to premiere after the end of The Blade and Petal. I never procrastinate and it’s actually a pet peeve of mine to … Continue reading →
Following along with the casting and filming of the upcoming period C-drama King of Lan Ling since the very beginning has made the wait feel interminable. So either I have prodigious patience I wasn’t aware of or time just flew by this past year because the drama is finally premiering on Wednesday August 14th on four major networks in China … Continue reading →
There is tiny part of me that hopes for a miracle with Goddess of Fire, a Flowers for Algernon like sudden spike in intelligence if you will. Characters would begin to behave like rational human beings (forget education or lack thereof, common sense is in dire scarcity in this drama), storylines would suddenly be taut and riveting, and the casts’ … Continue reading →
Won Bin might be the most reluctant movie star in South Korea. But I guess he can afford to be picky because he gets ton of CFs that can sustain a career when he’s not making movies. I know fans have been hoping he’d return to television but I’d say don’t hold your breath. The Korean media is reporting that … Continue reading →
When I posted almost exactly one month ago about the insider rumors that a network was developing a K-drama starring Yoon Eun Hye and Jung Yong Hwa, I expected the requisite hollers of “nooooooo!!!” but I also got lots of folks claiming I manufactured that rumor out of thin air and demanding sources. Sorry peeps, I don’t divulge sources, but … Continue reading →
There is an upcoming cable network K-drama that flitted into my consciousness this week and honest to god perked me up. Call this lust appreciation at first sight, because I know nothing about Do Ji Han, the rising young actor and leading man in the tvN sports and patriotism themed Basketball, but smoking hot meatballs is he insanely good looking. Of … Continue reading →
My broody Vic Zhou and the lovely and easy to watch Liu Shi Shi in a romantic movie? Sold! It’s fast coming up on Valentine’s Day in Chinese culture, which falls on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month commemorating the legend of the Cow Herder and the Weaver Girl and their Milky Way thwarted romance. With it comes … Continue reading →
The K-ent love train keeps chugging along in 2013 as if making up for a few slow years of couple news. While the year’s biggest shocker of a couple remains the one who set off this domino effect on New Year’s day (namely Rain and Kim Tae Hee), let it be said that they probably just opened the door so … Continue reading →
The biggest celebrity wedding in South Korea this year (and likely years to come) finally unfurled to great expectation and did not disappoint. Whether you are a fan of actor Lee Byung Hun or actress Lee Min Jung, this classy and star-studded affair can be appreciated on its own merits and boy was it a feast for the eyes. Because … Continue reading →
Brother Wolf approves, yes he does. The long drawn out Da Mo Yao–SARFT debacle has finally come to an end. On August 5th, a drama titled The Sun Moon Legend quietly got issued a SARFT permit and eagle-eyed fans recognized it as the plot synopsis of the drama adaptation of Da Mo Yao but with a different title and character … Continue reading →
With a cast full of seasoned and critically acclaimed veteran actors, Goddess of Fire continues to defy all logic of production quality because the elders are overacting like they were in on some joke together. This is also a cast with fantastic young leads and they have become the engine powering this broke ass train forward. Moon Geun Young, Lee … Continue reading →
Will it be third time’s the charm for this tabloid fodder onscreen chemistry exploding acting pairing? Ever since Janine Chang and Peter Ho did the TW-drama Ring Ring Bell (Chinese title True Love Please Ring Twice), they have been one of the shining highlights of Taiwanese real and reel life discussion. The drama was terrible, initially intriguing and their chemistry … Continue reading →
When I saw the upcoming pictorials for Suzy in Harper’s Bazaar and for Lee Seung Gi in Esquire, my first thought was “oh, did modern day Yeol Wool and Kang Chi have a fight and head off on separate vacations?” It’s amusing how it takes awhile after a drama ends to stop associating leads with each other. In this case, … Continue reading →
