SBS is easily the network with the biggest haul in 2013, two of the most highly rated K-dramas of the year Yawang and I Hear Your Voice airs on that network. It’s also the network that tends to start prepping for dramas well in advance, or at least releasing information about it so the public can start noodling over the idea. Kim … Continue reading →
What I love about Monstar all along has been its deft touch, a sense of sincerity without the heavy-handedness that pervades most K-dramas, where issues ranging from big to serious are almost always given the weight like it’s life-altering. But as we head towards the finale of this drama, it’s also that very sense of everything-will-be-alright attitude that renders the … Continue reading →
I’m not surprised there are so many leaks and spoilers for the upcoming Kim Eun Sook drama Heirs. Even if just Lee Min Ho was cast, that alone would mobilize his legions of fans to stalk the forums and listen for the latest rumors about this project. Add to it Park Shin Hye, that then doubles the interest. And as … Continue reading →
Since I have to fill this space with words, rather than just put up these super awesome new stills of So Ji Sub and Gong Hyo Jin in The Master’s Sun, I want to talk a bit about the directing to come in this drama since we’ve all gabbed ad nauseum about the writing duo of the Hong sisters. TMS … Continue reading →
With The Master’s Sun throwing all sorts of stills and preview hoodoo at the viewers, I was wondering when Two Weeks would up their game and do more than show still pictures of gorgeous Lee Jun Ki. Both dramas are premiering the first full week of August and I wonder if the ratings in general will be lackluster since those … Continue reading →
The leaked script pages for the first two episodes of Heirs clearly reveals the overarching Hana Yori Dango influence, but the recently scrounged up character descriptions shed color on the details and its there I see the Gossip Girl bent. Lee Min Ho’s Kim Tan and Kim Woo Bin’s Choi Young Do is clearly modeled off of Serena and Blair, … Continue reading →
There is an urban drama legend about the origins of Club ICOMYM (Inappropriate Crushes on Much Younger Men). I was present on the day, hour, minute, and second it was formed. I can confirm here and now that among ALL the hot young (and younger) guys in K-entertainment, it was indeed smirk-n-dimples himself Kim Bum who was the reason the … Continue reading →
With the release of the second preview for the upcoming horror romance drama The Master’s Sun written by the (in)famous Hong Sisters, my interest in this drama has officially skyrocketed. Can I take back what I said about not caring that I Hear Your Voice got a two-episode extension? I care now, I want TMS immediately and am starting the … Continue reading →
Goodness gracious great balls of Lee Jun Ki! What perfection can I expect in the upcoming chase drama Two Weeks? If these pictures are any indication, I’m going to like what I see. As much as I wanted Jun Ki to do a sageuk drama, and Arang and the Magistrate really was decent enough (especially in comparison to the utter … Continue reading →
Finally! Okay people, I believe this casting finishes the complete main cast for the upcoming Heirs. For whatever weed FNC Entertainment was smoking in allegedly being the one to turn down the offer for Jung Yong Hwa to be the second male lead in Heirs (supposedly due to his busy CNBlue schedule), I don’t know what kind of magic they … Continue reading →
First off, I hate to be the netiquette reminder fairy but do not be a douchenozzle and steal my writing. Words are like my kids, if I put it together into a sentence then I consider it kidnapping if it’s lifted wholesale. With the intense frenzy for Heirs news despite being three months away from airing, I’ve already seen things … Continue reading →
Have the Hong sisters lost their mojo? While I personally loved Big for admittedly very subjective reasons unrelated to its quality (or lack thereof), the sisters don’t seem to have that buzziness about them. While You’re Beautiful was their biggest splash in years in terms of net buzz, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho did reasonably well and was quite popular … Continue reading →
The adults showed up in the second half of episode 5 of Goddess of Fire Jeongi today and I wish I could tell everyone that the drama miraculously got better. The annoying was dialed down one notch without the histrionics of Jin Ji Hee playing the younger Jung Yi, but frankly she was but one of this drama’s problems and … Continue reading →
