Big news on big budget period C-drama Flourished Peony with Yang Zi and Li Xian and I’m of mixed thoughts on it. The S+ budget drama is confirmed to have 60 episodes which is rare these days after the ban on dramas longer than 40 episodes to cut down on story filler, Flourished Peony appears to have a lot of … Continue reading →
I would say it’s been a great year for TW-actress Chen Qiao En (Joe Chen) as she successfully transitioned to the elder stateswoman role of evil stepmom in hit C-drama The Double and also got married. She’s 45 years old so playing the mom/aunt role isn’t a stretch it’s just that most of us remember her as the fresh ingenue … Continue reading →
It’s tough being in the public spotlight as each new sighting is room for commentary good or bad. Earlier this month Liu Shi Shi was in NYC attending various New York Fashion Week events and got tons of praise for her hair, makeup, outfits, and overall aura. Now this week she’s getting criticism from C-netizens for a set of new … Continue reading →
Well the IMF crisis in 1997 is now the backup for not one but two high profile K-dramas. The first is Knock Off with Kim Soo Hyun and a veritable clown car of big name actors and actresses alongside him. Now comes Typhoon Company which is in talks with Junho as the lead and is likely a done deal. Junho … Continue reading →
I love C-actor Xu Kai despite his myriad limitations as an actor, he’s always watchable for me and I think he’s super derpy in real life and love that contrast. He’s contract with his long time agency run by Yu Zheng is coming to an end this year and reportedly he will renew, which was not always guaranteed as stars … Continue reading →

It’s clear that sometimes stars and their own fandoms don’t align on the same perspective or wants and in the case of C-drama Love Beyond the Grave it’s a matter of reality versus ideal. Female lead Dilraba Dilmurat‘s huge fandom has been kicking up a storm for two weeks kvetching about her unflattering costumes, hairpieces, and makeup. TBH they have … Continue reading →
I’m still wrapping my head around it being 2024 and netizens angry that their fave star got married at a marriageable age to a long standing relationship?!? I’m talking about Wu Jin Yan and her recent bombshell news but it could be any star and any era and it feels like the para-social standards haven’t change much. As such, it’s … Continue reading →
Oooh this sounds interesting, and also reminds me that I still need to find time to watch C-drama Reset. Bai Jing Ting and Zhou Ye are in talks for a C-drama titled Give Me Five (Chinese title 逆时侦查组 Reverse Time Detective Squad) that is a time loop story hence it reminds everyone of Reset which was a big hit for … Continue reading →
Where have I seen this show before? Oh yes, just a few months ago and with the same actor no less. Sigh, I really don’t know who is advising Chen Zhe Yuan on his casting issues but this same type of conflict is not looking good for him. The romance C-drama Double Track (Parallel Track) has been casting and was … Continue reading →
So the production of C-drama Our Generation (Cherry Amber) gets the top prize for grabbing buzz fast and running with it hard. The drama stars Zhao Jin Mai and Zhang Ling He who went straight into filming it after their period drama The Princess Royal finished airing. The Princess Royal was more slow burn and restrained physical affection romance what … Continue reading →
Okay, this set up sounds just like the set up in C-movie Soul Mate which last year got a K-movie adaptation that starred Kim Da Mi. And now she’s in talks for the K-drama A Hundred Memories which is courting Shin Ye Eun for the other female lead. It’s the story of two ladies who work in the bus transit … Continue reading →
