After a long four year hiatus from Taiwan idol dramas, Ady An is headed back to the island where she was last seen on the small screen in a little known monster hit called Autumn’s Concerto, which made amnesia and a certain little Xiao Xiao Bin popular. Since then Ady has been starring in C-drama after C-drama, a good mix … Continue reading →
The upcoming sageuk Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love delivers its promotional material like one step forward, two steps back, then two steps forward, one step back. I can’t figure out if its going to be good, if I should be excited, if it’ll be a hot mess. All I know is that its decidedly buzzy for a variety of … Continue reading →
I think When a Man Loves should be called “When he loves her and she loves another and another loves him and they all love but no one gets any.” I read the character descriptions and almost burst out laughing. So cold gangster Song Seung Heon loves plucky poor girl Shin Se Kyung, who knows his love and kinda uses … Continue reading →
I hate character assassination by a writer. It is one of my number one biggest pet peeves. It works both ways, when a villain is randomly reformed, and especially when a good guy is made evil for the sake of throwing him under the bus to prop up another character. I mention this because the TW-netizen fans of King Flower … Continue reading →
Everyone and their grandmothers know by now that Lee Min Ho has selected his next project and it’s a Kim Eun Sook drama. I’ve watched all of her dramas and it’s a wide berth between love (City Hall, On Air) and hate (Secret Garden, A Gentleman’s Dignity, Lovers in Paris). One thing that has been constant is that her dramas … Continue reading →
In the Park Shi Hoo rape investigation, the deluge of information from sources official and unconfirmed have eviscerated the old adage that “no good is good news” when it comes to celebrity scandals. Park Shi Hoo’s attorney has aggressively gone after alleged libel and conspiracy, police and media leaks, and even done its own investigation in this case. The Western … Continue reading →
Korea has been in the throes of older woman-younger man drama pairings for years so I’m pretty inured to it all. Unless its totally incongruous to me, for the most part if the storyline and the chemistry sells it then I’m game. Kim Tae Hee is a heck of a lot older than her co-star Yoo Ah In in their upcoming … Continue reading →
Well, well, well, look at who is returning to our embrace in less than three days? Yes, ladies (and gentlemen), the perfect multi-talented Kim Jae Wook has quietly and ably served his two years of mandatory military service and is thisclose to earning his discharge papers. He was interviewed by the military television program to discuss his experience and feelings … Continue reading →
Neither Jung Ryeo Won nor Kim Ha Neul are K-actresses I have to watch no matter what the project is, nor do they annoy me to the extent I avoid their works. I best describe my feelings towards them as per-project-basis and it waxes and wanes depends on what it is. Jung Ryeo Won has been on the up-and-up with … Continue reading →
You know Spring has definitely arrived when the Flower Boys come out to play. Korea has been in the throes of flower boy fever for years now, a phenomenon that arrived with a giant splash with the Korean F4 in Boys Before Flowers, and has never ceased to grace the screens in drama after drama since then. Even when an … Continue reading →
I love discussing casting rumors because its such a fun game of “what if”, and I try not to get too invested in a potential pairing that if it ends up being a pipe dream its no big deal. Fresh off her well-received turn as introvert Go Dok Mi in cable network tvN‘s Flower Boy Next Door, a youth drama … Continue reading →
Does this drama seriously want to fry my brain? Because why else would SETTV drop the latest batch of official stills to dangle a carrot before me, but also causing me considerable heartburn. In episode 12 of King Flower, Terry and Da Hua end up taking wedding photos at the request of Liang Yen’s dad so that he can satisfy … Continue reading →
The breakup of Roy Qiu and Tang Yan, from a relationship that neither ever admitted while they were dating, is turning decidedly ugly with the media fanning the flames. Tang Yan made a few public appearances since the breakup and the media was quick to note that she looked wan and even burst into tears when she saw an old … Continue reading →
