The recent uber-tender display of affection and 16-year friendship between Zhao Wei–Huang Xiaoming is still the talk of the town in C-entertainment. I’m sure women everywhere that heard this story, be it a mega movie star down to an old grandma somewhere, wishes we had a BFF like the way Huang Xiaoming adores and worships Zhao Wei. The man rushes … Continue reading →
This week’s episode comes with the question from the official drama website – “How will Da Hua, Terry, and Guan Jun’s relationship develop, and will Jin Mom find out the truth about Da Hua’s identity?” I then read the written preview for episode 12 of King Flower, which comes with four pretty new pictures that shows Terry and Da Hua … Continue reading →
OMG, I want, I want, I WANT!!! I heard rumors about an upcoming J-dorama rom-com a few weeks ago but nothing confirmed and then sorta forgot about it until it snuck up on me. Spring 2013 will be having a love triangle rom-com from the land that frankly has mostly forgotten about that genre. Last Cinderella starring Shinohara Ryoko, Miura … Continue reading →
As March wraps up, supposedly the police of the Western Police Station in Seoul will be concluding their investigation into the Park Shi Hoo rape allegations and transferring the case to the prosecutor’s office who will make the determination whether to file charges. This isn’t an insular process, the prosecutors are likely kept abreast of the progress of the investigation … Continue reading →
I know how preposterous King Flower is, and honestly its silliness is a part of the charm. But the main reason I love it is how much this drama has stakes for me, real emotional stakes that most TW-dramas can’t figure out lately. Miss Rose is a shining example of having no viable stakes and then forcing stupid ones down … Continue reading →
Let me start off by getting the pink elephant in the room out of the way – I do not get Lee Hong Ki‘s hair. At all. No clue what the hell happened to him (zapped by lightning? got styling tips from No Min Woo circa the Full House 2 days?) or why he thought to leave the house looking … Continue reading →
Tangren isn’t bad at promoting its dramas when it wants to, and less than a month after starting filming for Bu Bu Jing Qing, the modern follow-up to its popular period time-travel drama Bu Bu Jing Xin, a concept video teaser has been released. Seeing the cast in action is light years better than staring at the dreary official character … Continue reading →
One would think Han Ji Hye would’ve learned her lesson by now and stay the heck away from weekend dramas where she singlehandedly set some sort of record for being slapped around in May Queen. But alas, she either has a developed a fondness for poor suffering abused heroines, or else the script for I Summon You, Gold (Call Forth Gold) … Continue reading →
Love triangles never get old in dramas, probably because every time it happens in real life one can’t help but be fascinated. Hot on the heels of the last love triangle in Taiwan entertainment (between Roy Qiu, his now-ex Tang Yan, and his maybe fling Tia Li) comes another trio that has been causing all sorts of heated speculation in … Continue reading →
There is a strong sense of deja-vu lately, starting with When a Man Loves posters, and now both Jang Ok Jung and Gu Family Book is giving me whiplash. When I saw the first teaser from JOJ yesterday, the scene where Ok Jung is taking clothing measurements for King Sukjong was lifted from Arang and the Magistrate when Eun Oh … Continue reading →
Despite my fondness for a good TW-drama, I would never say there has ever been a drama that can go to-toe-toe with the best that either Japan or Korea has to offer. But when I do alight upon a TW-drama that captures my heart, it does so totally and completely, and gives me a comfortable feeling like going home again. … Continue reading →
I dig this pairing, I dig this pairing very very much. The marketing gurus over at Acuvue-brand contact lenses tapped popular young actors Song Joong Ki and Han Hyo Joo as the new endorsement couple for it’s line of eye products. When Acuvue’s deal with Lee Min Jung expired, like all endorsement deals smartly need to freshen up its image … Continue reading →
Not bad, not bad at all. I can’t tell the acting quality from this teaser, but I can feel the attraction and glimpse how pretty this drama will be to watch. Following a very boring first teaser (seriously, why bother?), Jang Ok Jung released a second teaser that finally shows some narrative action. Real life Jang Ok Jung was 6 … Continue reading →
