Wahhhh, supreme daebak! Episode 5 of Miss Rose easily jumped over a point in ratings and broke 4 to land on 4.35 for the night. This puts MR on track with Office Girls, and with the drama being much more romance focused and less office politics than OG, I think the Taiwan audience is fully onboard this train and can … Continue reading →
Is it me, or does Nice Guy feel like its take forever to arrive? Every time I check, Gaksital is still on and we’re still weeks away from NG. This is probably due to the drama starting to film so early, then getting delayed due to Gaksital’s extension. Perhaps for a drama I was less interested, I’d probably check out … Continue reading →
Sometimes a coupling works well in certain mediums but I have no desire to see it transcend beyond that. Kang Ji Hwan and Son Dambi was just paired up for a W Korea pictorial that supposedly depicts a pair of mysterious lovers. With black and white pictures and scenes shot in a hotel with the couple being all sexy and … Continue reading →
My extreme jet lag is your boon, since being awake in the middle of the night means finally getting around to recapping episode 4 of Miss Rose. It was as wonderful as watching it the first time around, this time with more appreciation of how the story is really developing Si Yi and Cheng Kuan’s relationship. Right now they are … Continue reading →
Whenever I travel around Asia I love to watch network television not for the programs but for the CFs. The commercials are always fun and colorful, and also gives me a better idea of who and what is popular. Mike He has been notably absent from TW-dramas for the past year since he wrapped Love Keeps Going (so bad I … Continue reading →
DId anyone watch Let’s Go Watch Meteor Shower? You know, China’s adaptation of Hana Yori Dango? It’s terrible, but I watched it all for Hans Zhang, playing the role of Domyouji Tsukasa. His leading lady was Zheng Shuang as the C-version of Makino, and since starring in the two C-HanaDans, they’ve also worked on a movie and another drama together. … Continue reading →
One thing that I love about J-ent is how it’s range of leading men span the spectrum from oh-holy-so-good-looking to HOMG-where’d-he-come-from-but-he-sure-can-act. Whereas in Korea and Taiwan the leading men tend to just be very pretty, all of them so very pretty and sometimes indistinguishable from each other in style and aura. This led me to remember a series of fun … Continue reading →
I’m still pinching myself despite posting multiple times about the Kim Bum and Ariel Lin collaboration for the Echitoo Fall ad campaign. Fandoms colliding is a magical and interesting experience, one which either works or fails spectacularly. Everything about the Bummie and Ariel couples shoot for Echitoo screams Epic Amazeballs. Ariel looks younger than her age while Bummie channels a … Continue reading →
Excuse me while I spazz – wet Roy Qiu = fanning myself and hopping up and down like an epileptic rabbit. Clearly that picture above just short circuited my brain, but once I regained my sanity, I realized that the written preview for episode 5 of Miss Rose is like drama rom-com crack made just for me. Vivian the bitchy … Continue reading →
Arang and the Magistrate is adorable and crazily ambitious. It pulled a huge game changer in episode 4 that reset the OTP and raised the stakes to astronomical levels for all the main characters involved, even the omnipotent ones. This is no longer just about the mystery of Arang’s death, this drama now is about the curiously unbalanced state between … Continue reading →
When Joe Cheng quietly snuck off to enlist last week, I thought he wanted to avoid the media scrutiny and keep his shaved head under wraps. Turns out he just wanted to be low key, and this week he got a day off to visit family and he happily left the training camp to speak with the media gather outside. … Continue reading →
My beloved Miss Rose continues to rock and roll after four episodes aired, staying far ahead of the Sunday ratings pack (no other drama broke 1 in ratings while MR maintained a 3.22 for episode 4) that even if its ratings doesn’t continue an astronomical rise like its predecessor Office Girls did, it should still comfortably win its timeslot for … Continue reading →
Another solid episode of Arang and the Magistrate, confirming for me its stellar start was no fluke and the drama has got its act together. The story is moving along so fast, yet time is spent developing Arang and Eun Oh’s relationship and character reveals that helps ground this fantasy tale in stakes that we care about. Arang is a … Continue reading →
