I don’t think loving Da Mo Yao  (Ballad of the Desert) more than Bu Bu Jing Xin is making a statement about which novel I think is better. I’m merely stating which novel I connected with more, and it’s easily DMY all the way. DMY is the Yang to BBJX’s Yin. I love how Tong Hua’s writing style really matches her … Continue reading →
I’ve pretty much confirmed that my love for The Moon that Embraces the Sun has waned (har har, moon joke). It was a steady and somewhat slow downward slide where lackluster acting, a plodding pace, and some wretchedly bad character and narrative development slowly sucked away my affection. I might switch to baby recaps soon, because I just don’t care … Continue reading →
Raise your hand if you are surprised that one day J-ent would explode with the news that Jin knocked up a girl and was going to be a baby daddy? Yeap, no one is surprised at all. Yahoo Japan and Sports Nippon are both reporting this morning that recently rumored hot and heavy new celebrity couple of Akanishi Jin and … Continue reading →
It’s T-minus 8 days until Lee Jun Ki gets out of the army, but word is starting to leak out about his first activities lined up after his release. In addition to his fan meeting in Japan, Jun Ki will be releasing a new album there as well. The album is titled Deucer, intended as a reference “deux”, the French … Continue reading →
I think we’re about to see some of the long awaited forward momentum on all fronts we’ve been waiting for in The Moon that Embraces the Sun. I, for one, am totally and utterly in the period drama mood, thanks to reading Da Mo Yao this weekend and then realizing the drama adaptation won’t be out until next year, so … Continue reading →
This is way too cute, seeing SETTV‘s current batch of hot drama leads together and hitting the Hong Kong stage for promotions. TVB will begin airing Office Girls and Inborn Pair at the end of February, and the network managed to lure Roy Qiu, Alice Ke, and Chris Wang to visit Hong Kong ahead of the premiere. To be sure, … Continue reading →
Looks like The Moon that Embraces the Sun is plowing full speed ahead on the love triangle aspect of the story, which makes sense since it’s the best developed aspect of the narrative. I like to see Hwon and Wol talk more, and not constantly in King to shaman topic of conversation, but truly get to know each other. I … Continue reading →
My takeaways from marathoning Da Mo Yao (Ballad of the Desert) the novel this weekend are this: (1) General Huo Qu Bing is about to become the best character Hu Ge has ever played in his career (EVER) and (2) oh my lordy was that a love story (and love triangle) for the ages. Between squealing, gasping, holding my breath, and … Continue reading →
Gong Hyo Jin has had a really balanced career, dividing her time between dramas and movies almost equally. Since wrapping Best Love last June, one of her most high profile and popular dramas, she headed back to Chungmuro to make the cute modern dating movie Love Fiction with the always reliably brilliant Ha Jung Woo. What a great pairing from … Continue reading →
OMG, so perfect together! I WANT NOW. Lee Seung Gi, who is currently filming the upcoming drama The King with Ha Ji Won, is also planning to release his first Japanese single next month. Eyebrows were raised when he was recently photographed on the streets of Seoul seemingly shopping for groceries with Park Shin Hye. Of course such overt togetherness … Continue reading →
Another week arrives, and with it two more new episodes of The Moon that Embraces the Sun. With no confirmation from MBC on the rumored extension, this means the drama is now in the second half of its run. I expect the story is start kicking into high gear, and the actors to all step it up a notch or … Continue reading →
I’m still watching the daily drama Inborn Pair (literal title True Love Looks for Trouble), a breezy and sweet contract marriage confection with warm family moments and a great steady pace. While I’m not interested in the secondary characters beyond the delightful OTP played by Annie Chen as Song Yi Jie and Chris Wang as Ke Wei Xiang, the gradually … Continue reading →
Next week sees the premiere of a seemingly big-budgeted political thriller melodrama on the cable network Chosun TV. Starring Hwang Jung Min and Kim Jung Eun, the drama Hanbando (The Korean Peninsula) has been flying under the bloggy radar for the most part, probably because the two leads don’t amass the fangirl swooning some other actors come armed with. Nevertheless, … Continue reading →
