Nice to see the Korean military complex isn’t done with exploiting its big star recruits, after pimping Binnie out for some marine training documentary that was purely an exercise in making money off the poor boy who just wants to be an average marine like every other guy in his platoon. The hottest Taiwan drama of 2011 has been Rookies … Continue reading →
The upcoming big-budget Korean movie Thieves, helmed by director Choi Dong-hoon (Tazza, The Big Swindle, and Jeon Woo Chi), has started filming this month. The entire cast is in Hong Kong for a primary location shoot, as the big heist in the center of this drama will be at a Macau casino. Oooh, I love Hong Kong and Macau, where I … Continue reading →
Episode 2 of Spy Myung Wol wasn’t nearly as entertaining as episode 1. It also makes clear just how preposterous the world of this drama is, and how much the viewer is going to have to take a giant suspension of disbelief to accept the premise and go with the flow. I don’t have a problem with wacky concepts and … Continue reading →
Awww, it’s so nice to see the boys back together, even if it’s just two out of four. Vanness Wu’s upcoming album C’est La V is dropping on July 17th and as usual he’s found a slew of collaborators for many of the tracks. For the track “Do It”, Vanness got his F4 bandmate Vic Zhou (Zai Zai) – or … Continue reading →
When I was watching episode 1 of Spy Myung Wol today, I noticed TPTB (The Powers That Be) not only made recently released from the military Eric do the obligatory shirtless shower scene, it also made him do an even more gratuitous swimming scene. All in the same episode. Considering second male lead Lee Jin Wook is also freshly six-packed … Continue reading →
Dear drama gods: I am not in any position to pray for a guy like Jie Xiu, cuz I have one already, but on behalf of ALL my drama sisters who are still single, can you clone this man and distribute him to every single woman out there? Every single one. There is not a woman in her right mind … Continue reading →
Nice. So nice. I’m genuinely thrilled to find a K-drama I like so I can be back live recapping. If episode 1 of Heartstrings disappointed me with it’s roughshod execution and a slightly uneven script, then episode 1 of Spy Myung Wol elicited the exact opposite reaction from me. This drama is da bomb, yo. The entire premise is not taken seriously … Continue reading →
The Korean news have picked up on the possibility that Jung Woo Sung will be doing another K-drama this year (after going 15 years in movies and then coming back with the turkey that was Athena). The script for the upcoming fantasy melodrama Padam Padam (which is the sound of a heart beat makes in French) from famed screenwriter Noh … Continue reading →
The upcoming 3D blockbuster-budget Korean monster movie Section 7 is gearing up for its premiere on August 4th. The movie stars A-list actress Ha Ji Won in a Sigourney Weaver in Aliens-esque role, while the men folks just tag along for the ride. Heh, I love kick-ass lady warriors. The entire cast, including Oh Ji Ho and Ahn Sung Ki, have … Continue reading →
While July isn’t as chock-a-block with new K-drama premieres as May was, there are nevertheless quite a few new dramas I’m interested in checking out. One of them is the Kim Sun Ah and Lee Dong Wook vehicle Scent of a Woman. I’m not sure what to expect, and even if I’ll like the story itself, what with the terminal … Continue reading →
The three lovely cover ladies for InStyle Korea‘s 100th edition, Moon Geun Young, Kim Tae Hee, and Kim Nam Joo, also graced the inside pages with their own photospreads. Bringing you all three sets of pictures, which are very different, and yet so stunning in their own way. Geun Young rocks a edgy Gangnam-girl with-a-Hongdae-attitude, Tae Hee does a lady-takes-a-Route … Continue reading →
If I say Rainie Yang is having the hottest year of her career, starting from when she was crowned the Best Actress winner at the Golden Bell Awards in October 2010, that would be an understatement. The girl is on fire, with her two dramas currently airing both winning the time slot in its respective market. Drunken to Love You … Continue reading →
I feel like Yoo Seung Ho has such a similar career trajectory as Jang Geun Seok it’s astounding, minus the seven year age difference between them. Especially now that both guys have starred with Kim Ha Neul in a movie. Both are child actors revered for being pretty much the best of their group, and both tend to play older … Continue reading →
