Two of my favorite young actors got tapped to be the ambassadors for this year’s JIFF (Jeonju International Film Festival). Cutie pies Kim So Eun and Jung Il Woo posed for a series of adorable pictures, which doesn’t evoke so much the “film” or the “festival” (despite the random use of film-related props), but does make me go “oooooh, so prettay, … Continue reading →
The upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama Maids has officially changed its name to Romance Town (or Romantic Town). The production had been deliberating a name change for the past week, after objections from the professional housekeeping associations that it’s original title used a more antiquated (and derogatory) name for household workers.
Continue reading →After wrapping the upcoming drama Mei Le, Go and The Other Shore 1945, respectively, both Mike He and Vic Zhou have selected a movie as their next project. By the cursed movie fates, and to my utter horror, the leading lady for both men will be Ella. I let out a high-pitched shriek when I read this, and then started … Continue reading →
Folks – I hereby declare Atatsuki no Aria (暁のAria or Dawn’s Aria, and Chinese title is 晨光中的詠嘆調) the best pure shoujo manga series I’ve read in years. It’s harkens back to the classic shoujo storytelling of yore – where the narrative drives the plot and the characters breath with three-dimensional life – changing, evolving, and taking us along on an … Continue reading →
After filming intermittently for the past 6 months, which is quite long for a TW-idol drama (typical filming length is 3 months), Vanness Wu just tweeted today (accompanied by the sepia-tinted picture below) that filming has finally wrapped for Material Queen, which co-stars supermodel-actress Lynn Xiong. MQ has been plagued with production woes, notably its two stars being quite upset … Continue reading →
My Girl used to be one of my favorite rom-coms, since it was one of my first K-drama rom-coms. I wished I had never rewatched it years later, where I really couldn’t stand the story or the acting. But I choose to remember it fondly from my initial impression. Bearing that in mind, I was actually curious about the upcoming … Continue reading →
Looks like a rumor I heard about last week might actually be a reality. I mentioned that Kang Ji Hwan was rumored to be the male lead for Sweet Scandal, which was the upcoming SBS drama that was likely Yoon Eun Hye‘s next drama vehicle. Those rumors were based on the admins of Sweet Scandal’s Daum Cafe posting a picture … Continue reading →
When I cry tears of joy, the tears, it tastes sweet. The character descriptions and plot outline has leaked, and good golly miss molly am I pumped for this drama like you wouldn’t believe. Read on if you have a strong bladder and can contain your excitement. Warning – super spoilers ahead (I’m serious about the extent of the spoilery … Continue reading →
That noise you hear? That’s the sound of a Koala screaming from wanting something but being told she has to wait. SETTV released the second trailer for Drunken to Love You, and my newfounded appreciated for Rainie Yang almost turned into a full-blown girl crush after watching this more romantic and emotional trailer as compared to the slapstick adorableness of … Continue reading →
The SBS Mon-Tues drama battle has been lackluster, to say the least. None of the three dramas have gained much buzz, and all hover within a few ratings points of each other, with The Duo leading, followed by Midas, with Crime Squad bringing up the rear. The production of Midas held a press conference yesterday, and it’s notable only for … Continue reading →
I’m not quite sure what to make of 49 Days episode 6. In fact, six-episodes in, I’m not quite sure what to make of the drama so far. I need to think about this a little bit. With that in mind, here’s the recap proper, and I’ll share my usual after-thoughts later tonight after I have some time to marinate … Continue reading →
There must be something in the air around here, because I am way more excited about upcoming TW-dramas than I am about upcoming K-dramas (with the exception of Best Love). GTV is totally on a roll these days, it has Hayate the Combat Butler completed, and now Extravagant Challange, its long-awaited live-action adaptation of the manga Skip Beat finally starts … Continue reading →
When Fahrenheit went to Malaysia last week to promote Canon‘s new point-and-click camera and put to rest the rumors that they are disbanding or losing a member, they really are making good on their promise to do more group activities in the future. This week found the foursome in Beijing walking the runway for ALT Fine Ism, a male … Continue reading →
