So the biggest surprise for me in the just released 2024 Baeksang Art Awards nominations the TV category are on who was and was not nominated in the Queen of Tears family. Kim Soo Hyun got yet another Baeksang Best Actor nomination for this role but the rest of the drama was missing in the Best Drama, Best Screenwriter, and … Continue reading →
Well this is a dumbass lawsuit, in both legal standing and public perception. C-actor Cheng Yi‘s old agency has sued him for compensation for using his stage name. His birth name is Fu Shi Qi and Cheng Yi is obviously the name he’s used as an actor. Even if his old agency has someone who helped pick his stage name … Continue reading →
I have it give it to screenwriter Park Ji Eun, she’s getting better and better with each drama and that’s saying a lot since her earlier drama You From Another Star is a seminal once-in-a-decade type hit that created a wave through all of Asia and beyond. But here we are ten years and a few dramas later with Queen … Continue reading →
The spokesperson switch for the other brand CF that did not renew with Han So Hee has also found a new buzzy actress to take over the campaign. The soju brand went with Kim Ji Won days after and now the agricultural bank has selected Go Yoon Jung in less than two weeks. There is clearly the same thought process … Continue reading →
I feel like my goodwill towards K-actress Kim Yoo Jung is limitless, or shall I say endless. It doesn’t matter if her drama or movie isn’t that good, she’s just forever that charming, adorable, and worth watching onscreen for me. I may not always finish a project that’s lackluster but her performances are never a waste of screentime. Her most … Continue reading →
It’s fitting that one quarter of 2024 is over already so it’s easy to assess and the biggest idol drama hit of Q1 is xianxia C-drama The Legend of Shen Li. The drama wraps its run for VIP subscribers this weekend and the ending has been lauded by fans as wonderfully done, logical within the worldbuilding, satisfying, and even a … Continue reading →
I thought things couldn’t get worse for disgraced TW-star Mickey Huang but here comes more. Last year during Taiwan ent’s MeToo movement in the summer of 2023 one of the fallen was Mickey, who was accused of groping and taking naked pictures of a young actress who saw him as an esteemed veteran and he took advantage of her. He … Continue reading →
Oh this is a bit of a bummer development, but not surprising since production companies are always trying to get the bigger names if possible. Period C-drama The Brocaded Tale of the Girl Si based on the same name novel was initially in talks with Alen Feng as the male lead but now has moved to discussions with Chen Zhe … Continue reading →
I don’t know what’s in the water lately in K-ent but we have another dating news in K-pop. Chaeyoung of the group TWICE is reportedly dating R&B singer Zion.T for the past few months. After news broke, both side’s agency confirmed so this feels like the most nothing burger dating news of late, but then also kinda weird since Karina–Lee … Continue reading →
So the good news is that not a lot was expected of this C-drama but it’s still getting majorly hammered right now. Blossoms in Adversity has premiered for less than a week and it’s been rough out of the gate. The ridiculous story with the child female lead in episode 1 climbing the boat rigging to start the drama probably … Continue reading →
Oooooh I love this pairing and this drama set up! K-ent is reporting that Lee Jong Won and Kim Se Jung are the leads for an upcoming rom-com drama titled In the Name of Alcohol. She’s an executive for a spirits distribution company and he’s a craft beer brewer, and of course she’s going to be all business and he’s … Continue reading →
Can this story die already, for the sake of the three celebs involved who are people with their own emotions and weaknesses. It’s been just two weeks since Ryu Jun Yeol and Han So Hee were spotted in Hawaii, first denied and then admitted the relationship, ex-girlfriend Hyeri made a comment, then Han So Hee melted down demanding clarification and … Continue reading →
So I think there is more than enough room for every single project to be a hit if it’s good, so much viewership is on streaming that viewers are watching multiple dramas/shows at once if one wants. So it’s not a zero sum game like terrestrial ratings where a TV tuned to one channel cannot watch another. With that said, … Continue reading →
