I may have beloved baes among K-actors and K-actresses but even then I have to be in the mood for their projects whether it’s genres I like or not. Kim Soo Hyun is back to start December with his thriller murder mystery and legal wrangling drama One Ordinary Day based on the BBC series Criminal Justice. It premiered last week … Continue reading →
The first gen K-pop stars are in their forties, the second gen in their thirties, of course everyone that some of us still remember as fresh faced idols are now husbands, wives, and parents. Joining that crowd is Big Bang‘s Taeyang, who has someone remained untouched by the scandals of his other group members. He got married 4 years ago … Continue reading →
This is certainly great news to start the week. K-ent has a new drama pairing lined up with Yeo Jin Gu and Moon Gao Young, the two now being confirmed for the upcoming K-drama Link. It will be announced shortly but the two have been connected to the project for a few months now. This project late last year was … Continue reading →
Okay, I am ALL CAUGHT UP on SBS Fri-Sat drama Now, We are Breaking Up and boy do I have thoughts! That’s good because a drama that makes me feel an opinion whatever it is makes me remember it in the long run. I still remember Blood just as vividly as I do Goblin in completely different ways haha. I … Continue reading →
Now this is much better! The latest preview dropped for jTBC drama Snowdrop as it starts the two week countdown to premiere day on December 18th. Instead of the cheesy OTP focused earlier previews that made Jung Hae In look like a princely school boy and Jisoo a lovestruck dim school girl, there’s an actual plot with this preview and … Continue reading →
I think Kim Go Eun will be Yumi for me for the near future, especially with her going back for season 2 of Yumi’s Cells. She deservingly got praise many years ago for bringing the female lead in Cheese in the Trap to life but the drama was so problematic it doesn’t stand the test of time. If season 2 … Continue reading →
When a K-drama bisects a year during its airing period it does create potential for year end network award gaps. Case in point Secret Royal Inspector, the KBS sageuk that started airing in December 2020 and finished in early February 2021. The drama was low rated per usual for KBS dramas when it started airing at 5.0% but slowly went … Continue reading →
I’m not surprised to see this K-drama on the list but am surprised to not see another K-drama as well join. It’s December so the Best Of lists are starting to come out. The Gray Lady herself The New York Times is off to an early start and for the Best International TV Shows of 2021 list one K-drama got … Continue reading →
When I first saw the previews for Squid Game I totally went “Huh, I’ve gone on this rodeo before”, but of course doing a same concept doesn’t mean there isn’t an appetite for it in the here and now so that drama went on to set records. Seeing the promos for tvN fantasy drama Bulgasal: Immortal Souls, I totally think … Continue reading →
If this was an actual battle then the outcome has been decided as of episode 7. The Fri-Sat direct ratings competition between MBC sageuk The Red Sleeve Cuff and SBS romance Now, We are Breaking Up has the victor nearly double the ratings after 7 episodes and also fully reversing the pole position from the premiere episode. I can see … Continue reading →
It’s just a hair over a month since Lovers of the Red Sky (Hong Chun Gi) ended, and as wonky as the drama was it will undoubtedly get year end drama recognition by SBS so I’m excited to see Kim Yoo Jung attending the ceremony. I thought she would take a break until then, the shoot looked exhausting especially with … Continue reading →
Oh, what a nice and totally out-of-the-blue dating news. A new couple is born in K-ent as movie actress Jeon Jong Seo and her Call movie director Lee Chung Hyun are dating. The two confirmed the news and admitted they fell in love while he directed her in the movie, to which I saw win and win! She’s gotten tons … Continue reading →
The year 2021 is definitely the yet of Netflix K-dramas, and if you asked me in January which of the K-dramas Netflix produced that would be the big breakout hit I would not have necessarily picked Squid Game. I’m still amazing at how BIG this drama got worldwide, and feel it’s both the right timing and also the right drama … Continue reading →
