I think both Kim Soo Hyun and Oh Jung Se just submitted their names for the 2021 Baeksang Awards for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor in the drama category with today’s episode 9 performance It’s Okay to Not be Okay. The last 5 minutes are insane, absolutely a gut punch heartwrenching tour de force from both Kang Tae and … Continue reading →
In writing a blog there’s a desire to preserve a thought or the memory of a moment, so it’s only fitting that I write a post to remember J-actor Miura Haruma‘s most well known works from his very early breakouts all the way to his most recent projects. He was a child actor who started acting at 7 years old … Continue reading →
Sat-Sun tvN drama It’s Okay to Not be Okay rounded the midway point last week and is headed to the second half of its run, prompting the usual posts about what to expect and how well/not well it’s gone so far. One interesting perspective came from two recent K-ent articles praising the set design and special effects of the drama, … Continue reading →
I’ve watched J-doramas for over 30 years and this will go down as one of the most devastating events to occur in J-ent. Prolific and critically/ratings acclaimed young actor Miura Haruma has died. He was only 30 years old and that’s a stunning confirmation of how young he was when he started acting and how many doramas and movies he … Continue reading →
I totally lost track that this drama was on the horizon but that’s allowed me to be intrigued when I saw the first teaser dropped this week. The next SBS Fri-Sat drama is the sci-fi fantasy time traveling romance Alice starring Kim Hee Sun and Joo Won. He plays a detective that learns about the existence of time travelers from … Continue reading →
I recently noticed that TW-actresses Janine Chang and Annie Chen cut off their decades long hair recently for new acting roles and it totally changes their aura and visuals. It’s been hot as Hades where I live and have been experiencing the usual summer pangs of desire to cut off all my hair, but I always resist because I’m a … Continue reading →
The Train just left the OCN station last weekend for the parallel worlds serial killer drama but it’s a shorter than usual run with 12-episodes so promos are starting for the followup drama Missing: The Other Side. I remember when networks would traditionally run ghost/supernatural/horror dramas in August to align with lunar ghost month and Missing definitely has ghosts, an … Continue reading →
K-actor Park Bo Gum seems like an old soul in a young man’s body, or a goofy big boy with a lot of intensity. He’s so creative and self-challenging when he picks his acting roles, Hello Monster anyone?, and now he’s a major drama male lead I’m glad he’s not pigeon holing himself into genres. From last year’s slow quiet … Continue reading →
Sci-fi has been one of the least mined genres in K-dramas so it’s a treat to see what’s in store for upcoming anthology series SF8. It contains 8 different single episodes each with a different cast and story and directed by a different movie director as this project is in collaboration with the Directors Guild of Korea. The solo posters … Continue reading →
I think good things only come with hard work, and that includes romance/life partnership/marriage. It’s not supposed to be easy and that shouldn’t be reason enough to eschew it, especially if the fall back option is being lonely potentially for life. That point of view will be explored in the upcoming MBC Every1 drama Love is Annoying, But I Hate … Continue reading →
I’m sure this is a relief for the stars involved and for the netizens this is closure on what was an unnecessarily public event what should be personal. The divorce proceedings between stars Gu Hye Sun and Ahn Jae Hyun were finalized this week in Seoul, capping off 7 months of legal affairs to conclude the three year union of … Continue reading →
The casting of Kim Ha Neul as the female lead for the K-drama adaptation of Hollywood movie 17 Again feels so perfect and it’s not because she’s vibing off original female lead Leslie Mann. Kim Ha Neul’s two decade career trajectory saw her get a major hit as the teacher in the teacher-student drama Romance and from then on she … Continue reading →
It’s definitely the dog days of summer swinging right through the second week of July already. I think there is plenty on the small screen right now for K-drama viewers, lots of selection in different genres. Topping the viewer interest in internet searches remains It’s Okay to Not be Okay on the drama front, followed by weekend stalwart Once Again … Continue reading →
