I do get the fans of The King: Eternal Monarch saying the drama has a lot of interesting elements and mysteries to unpack, that’s not untrue except the delivery is terrible and there hasn’t been any unpacking to properly build upon this grand world building. One mystery I am curious is who Luna is, like her full backstory and what … Continue reading →
I did a happy clap when I saw the script reading pictures for IU and Park Seo Joon for Dream, their upcoming movie from the director of Extreme Jobs. Both are coming off highly successful last projects and collaborating with a top director, expectations are high but it’s worth getting excited for something assembled so well. June 2020 is right … Continue reading →
As if his habitual and incessant cheating wasn’t enough, TW actor-singer-host Show Luo managed to one-up his own level of douchebaggery today and do so in a way to inflict maximum emotional harm. Show posted a nearly 7000 word (that’s long!) Weibo post complete with pictures titled “Boy and Girl” which earnestly recounted his entire romance with now ex-girlfriend Grace … Continue reading →
Welp, all the celebs in South Korea better be prepared to give an accounting/explanation/apology for their whereabouts in the last month or so as media and netizens are on a war path. On the heels of news that four male idols in late April 2020 went to Itaewon restaurant and two clubs during COVID-19 situation, today the news is reporting … Continue reading →
I dunno, I feel like the upcoming SBS drama Backstreet Rookie will have great chemistry between leads Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung but a middling story line and low ratings. A prediction but I don’t care if any of the above is wrong, except for the chemistry part because a good rom-com lives and dies by OTP chemistry. … Continue reading →
The top two highest paid actresses in K-drama land has been the same for ten years – Jeon Ji Hyun and Lee Young Ae get 100 million won per episode (around $83,000 USD). Below them but with a significant gap is Ha Ji Won, Choi Ji Woo, Kim Hee Ae, and Song Hye Kyo at 75 million won. K-ent is … Continue reading →
Cable network jTBC is the current reigning star eclipsing the success of former front runner tvN by dropping two record breaking K-dramas in two years. It’s also really savvy about casting and for upcoming K-drama Monster the network is bringing in veteran Shin Ha Kyun as the leading man opposite younger male lead Yeo Jin Gu. Not much is known … Continue reading →
Complacency is the insidious foe, like termites you can’t see but it’s slowly eating away at the foundation. If I am the most successful drama screenwriter of all time in South Korea Kim Eun Sook and I just read the article from Chosun News that says the epic failure of The King: Eternal Monarch means it’s time to pass her … Continue reading →
All eyes have been on the upcoming K-movie Peninsula as the zombie flick to look forward to, being the bigger more action-packed sequel to hit movie Train to Busan. I totally forgot about the movie #Alive starring Yoo Ah In and Park Shin Hye but the latest news about the movie surprised me like sliding into my DMs. #Alive released … Continue reading →
Ok, I feel more relieved just by seeing Kim Yoo Jung‘s character still for SBS drama Backstreet Rookie (Convenience Store Morning Star) because the original webtoon uncomfortably sexualized the female lead character. Her character still in the new batch released for the entire drama is so adorable and I also love how earnest and dorky male lead Ji Chang Wook … Continue reading →
Round two, here we go! The pairing of Lee Jun Ki and Moon Chae Won has always been a K-ent anticipation but their first drama together was the pure procedural Criminal Minds adaptation and didn’t give us their full talents in the natural K-drama glory. This time we get it with their reunited and it feels so painfully good sounding … Continue reading →
I am quite familiar with the K-actor ’87 line consisting of Lee Min Ho, Lee Seung Gi, Jang Geun Seok, Ji Chang Wook, Joo Won, Jung Il Woo, and Seo In Guk but today I learned about the idol ’97 line thanks to the mic Dispatch just dropped. Last week there were rumors and reports of idols visiting Itaewon Clubs, … Continue reading →
I really enjoyed Hotel Del Luna but it wasn’t for the OTP relationship. I loved the characters separately that were leads Man Wol played by IU and Yeo Jin Goo’s character Goo Chan Sung. Each had wonderfully rich development arcs but not together as a couple, I found them better as non-romantic but loving best friends if you will. They … Continue reading →
