The results are in for the most talked about K-drama of the first half of 2018, and the winner is unsurprisingly the most polarizing drama so far in Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food (Something in the Rain). It’s rare to have a drama start off with high expectations, meet them, and then proceed to trample on all that goodwill … Continue reading →
Summer and full makeup are basically mortal enemies as the heat melts the layer of facial armor and the skin longs to breathe. It’s a breath of fresh air to see a new makeup pictorial featuring famous Chinese and Japanese actresses without a drop of makeup, barefaced and beautiful for the world to see. Tang Wei, Jessie Li, Ni Ni, … Continue reading →
The weekend drama time slot now has not just one but three excellent quality K-dramas to check out, and unsurprisingly all are on the cable networks. On the second half of airing is Lawless Lawyer on tvN with the incredible chemistry of Lee Jun Ki and Seo Ye Ji, then we have Rain and Lee Dong Gun going mano-a-mano over … Continue reading →
Coming off what must have been a grueling shoot for tvN drama My Ahjusshi in both subject content and work load, it’s nice to be reminded that IU‘s character for the drama ended on a positive note after suffering for 15 plus episodes and in real life that happiness extends to IU getting positive reviews for her acting. I’m really … Continue reading →
The confirmation of Suzy for her next drama Vagabond reuniting with Lee Seung Gi is certainly going to generate plenty of buzz and mostly of the doubting kind. That’s fine even if I like both leads but really hated their first project together with Gu Family Book. It’s just so challenging to anticipate a drama with this nagging feeling that … Continue reading →
The casting gods have spoken and it is indeed happening that very very tall K-actor Yoon Kyun Sang will be joining very very petite actress Kim Yoo Jung in the upcoming webtoon adapted drama Clean with Passion for Now. The age gap thingie with the teen actresses with their male leads has been an issue for a few years now … Continue reading →
It’s the return of the one and only Chun Song Yi, bow down and mad respect. I loved K-actress Jeon Ji Hyun in You From Another Star, a combination of an awesomely written unique character and her balls to walls performance that feels like only she could have pulled off. She didn’t hit the jackpot again with her followup drama … Continue reading →
The moving parts that went into assembling the next SBS weekend drama unexpectedly rounded up not just leads I like but a supporting cast that’s also quite solid. Currently SBS drama Secret Mother is piling on the lies, makjang, and conflict, but once it wraps the next drama About Her will pull a plastic surgery and memory loss double whammy … Continue reading →
This is surprising news in a way that likely wasn’t the intended surprise. K-ent reports that actor Kim Joon has been secretly married for the past three years to a non-celebrity woman and they have a two year old daughter. I was surprised not for the secret marriage/baby news but that Kim Joon is still a celebrity! I don’t mean … Continue reading →
I’m genuinely giddy with joy, rather selfishly even, that tvN webtoon adapted drama Why Secretary Kim has premiered as a hit this week. The drama airing on the cable network premiered with 5.757% ratings in episode one and episode two decreased slightly to 5.403%. It’s actually a feat in this day and age when rom-coms get low ratings and manga/webtoon … Continue reading →
Ready or not, here comes Mr. Sunshine. The time flew on this one as tvN is starting ramped up promotions for the next Sat-Sun drama Mr. Sunshine by the screenwriter Kim Eun Sook of Goblin, Descendants of the Sun, and Heirs. With currently airing Lawless Lawyer at the midway point, Mr. Sunshine is slated to premiere on July 7th and … Continue reading →
If there is a moment of converge is knowing that Park Shin Hye doing a romance drama with Hyun Bin is forthcoming and it brings together over a decade of career development that appeared to be on different planes. Binnie did Ireland in 2004 when Park Shin Hye was a child actress in Stairway to Heaven that same year, and … Continue reading →
It may not be New York during Fleet Week but for K-ent fans this is pretty on point with four top stars looking mighty fine and showcasing their talents during military service. June 6th is Korean Memorial Day and at the 63rd celebration the army trotted out corporals Joo Won and Im Shi Wan along with private first class Ji … Continue reading →
