Timing was perfect for the rise of Jung Hae In as the current K-drama It Boy with three hits in a row thanks to While You Were Sleeping, Prison Playbook, and now Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food (Something in the Rain). It remains to be seen if the effect of his controversy at the 2018 Baeksang Awards will have … Continue reading →
I really love the official drama poster for jTBC drama Miss Hammurabi. It delivers a scene full of emotional and life as Go Ara drags along her more stodgy and senior judges L and Sung Dong Il in a local market backdrop. I still think the casting of two out of the three leads is way wack but then I … Continue reading →
I know where Park Shin Hye is! And even better I know where filming will be for upcoming K-drama Memories of Alhambra! She’s in Barcelona thanks to her SNS updates this weekend sharing pictures of the famous Park Guell and Sagrada Familia, goodness I need to hie myself back to Barcelona soon as it brought back so many perfect trip … Continue reading →
I’m going to keep my expectations low for upcoming SBS rom-com The Undateables (Handsome Guy and Jung Eum) because the two teasers so far are really frustrating watching leading lady Hwang Jung Eum. She’s like the opposite of male lead Namgong Min known for his very subtle acting and poker face, whereas she’s like Gumby over enunciating and being annoyingly … Continue reading →
Starting an agency isn’t the common approach in K-ent for top stars that achieve a certain level of fame. Most stars elect to stay with an agency likely because being a good entertainer doesn’t mean one would be a good company president complete with administrative, financial, and management requirements. There are a few big name actors and actresses that have … Continue reading →
Singer-actress IU is a familiar face in the CF modeling world and I see her often in sportswear and casual wear spreads fitting for her bright image. It’s less often to see her getting a thumbs up from K-netizens for her acting projects so her latest New Balance sneaker ads provide a contrast to the feedback of her latest tvN … Continue reading →
I know K-dramas love to feature chaebols and my favorite of those types of representations is the delusional self-absorbed type who is all bark and no bite, harmless in their narcissism like it’s a hobby. Park Seo Joon gets to play that very type of chaebol complete with his very capable dedicated secretary played by Park Min Young, with tvN … Continue reading →
The cast of upcoming SBS Mon-Tues drama Wok of Love (Greasy Melo) is not greasy in the least despite what the Korean title calls it, though I am gearing up for there to to a dish of romance as foreshadowed by calling it melo. Starring Jang Hyuk, Jung Ryeo Won and Junho, the drama follows a small Chinese restaurant in … Continue reading →
Give Kim Go Eun for hitting a home run and making comfortable and practical travel wear seem like a million bucks. It doesn’t hurt that she’s accessorized with a smart and cute Chanel backpack to raise the couture quotient but clearly her jeans and sweater are expensive items that so happen to look down-to-earth so she wins on both fronts. … Continue reading →
This is such a controversy that can only happen in seniority conscious Korea but it’s happened and now rising young actor Jung Hae In will have to deal with the consequences. What was a great night for Jung Hae In at the 2018 Baeksang Awards where he took home the male television star Popularity Award has turned into a netizen … Continue reading →
I still vividly remember the three-way epic K-drama showdown way back in 2010, during what will now be remembered as the tail end of the Hallyu drama heydays. Three high profile prime time dramas premiered on the exact same day with Cinderella Unni, Personal Taste, and Prosecutor Princess. Each would have their strengths and weakness, and rabid fanbase, and I … Continue reading →
My drama watching has been sidetracked still with more J-dorama goodness but on the K-drama side it’s sporadic and not the usual prime time fare that I usually watch. The Wed-Thurs time slot is making moves with the second week of new arrival Suits on KBS, with the drama growing from the premiere week of 7.4% to 9.7% this Wednesday. … Continue reading →
The fashion do’s and don’ts remain my favorite past time for awards shows, mostly because I can’t bother to care about winners that sometimes feel arbitrary or tied to popularity. The 2018 54th Annual Baeksang Arts Awards took place Thursday night on May 3rd in Seoul and the award winners were actually quite spot on picks for the most part. … Continue reading →
