Currently airing KBS drama Jugglers has deftly maneuvered it’s way to the ratings lead, by a small margin, but the Mon-Tues time slot is still mostly the doldrums in generating any buzz over the three airing prime time dramas. I’m looking forward to January 2018 when KBS ushers Jugglers off stage and brings on Radio Romance with leads Kim So … Continue reading →
A hearty congrats for KBS Wed-Thurs melodrama fantasy romance Black Knight (The Man Who Guards Me), winning the time slot handily and even more impressive is continuing to increase in ratings. This third week’s ratings broke 10% on Wednesday with 10.6% AGB nationwide and rose to 11.1% for Thursday. Nothing to Lose (Judge vs. Judge) stayed consistent around the 6% … Continue reading →
This is a hilarious news to report and a happy one at that. Thanks to the super efficiency of the Japanese post office, a breaking news story broke two days early and frankly I’m not sure it’s a bad thing. Idol-actor Okada Junichi, famous for over two decades since joining Johnny’s Entertainment and debuting with boy band V6, complied with … Continue reading →
Fans of the quirky KBS drama Mystery Queen (Queen of Mystery) can rejoice now that all elements are confirmed for the sequel. Mystery Queen 2 is coming to KBS February 2018 taking over the Wed-Thurs time slot from currently airing Black Knight. The original leads are back together in action, with Choi Kang Hee as the housewife detective and Kwon … Continue reading →
A bit of happy news for a change of pace, TW-actress Michelle Chen posted an update on her SNS account celebrating the first birthday of her son with husband C-actor Chen Xiao. The couple married in the summer of 2016 and welcomed their son in December of that year, and their little boy nicknamed Little Star hit the big 1 … Continue reading →
Pairing up two exceedingly handsome actors in different generational brackets appeals to two different audience demographics, and throw in the story being a remake of a popular US show and what could go wrong. Well, the K-remake of Criminal Minds answers that question with an everything went wrong answer but the upcoming Suits remake has a chance to learn from … Continue reading →
Fantastic K-drama casting news and a real coup for a rising young male actor. Jung Hae In is in talks to join Son Ye Jin for early 2018 jTBC drama Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food (or Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Meals), the pairing a wholly unexpected one and even more exciting that this drama is from PD Ahn … Continue reading →
You worked hard, Jonghyun. You did well, and please be at peace now. It was heartbreaking to read Jonghyun’s final letter that he intended as a suicide note, filled with so much despair with no hope for a brighter future. That his passing this week left behind so many grieving family, friends, and fans was not something he wished for … Continue reading →
At this point I think it’s quite possible that Suzy‘s entertainment career is teflon in South Korea. She keeps landing on most popular star lists year after year despite not having a critically acclaimed performance or hit drama and movie in some time. She even had a public relationship with Lee Min Ho and recently broke up and neither has … Continue reading →
There is finally a noticeable ratings winner in the Mon-Tues prime time slot and congrats to KBS office drama Jugglers for breaking out of the pack. For a few airings now the three Mon-Tues dramas have all been neck and neck but this Tues Jugglers came in first with 9.1% AGB nationwide, a rise of 2.7% so clearly this drama … Continue reading →
I’m liking the cast of upcoming SBS weekend drama Good Witch very much, and also loving how the first character promos look like a very coordinated group shot for winter outerwear. SBS is getting killed in ratings for this time slot as currently airing Bravo My Life is managing middle single digits but weekend dramas remain a fertile ground for … Continue reading →
I recently posted about Jang Geun Seok at the Pyeongchang Olympics event where he was made an ambassador for the upcoming showcase of South Korea on the world sports stage once again. He wasn’t looking his best with the awful flat middle parted hair and more rotund than usual but who cares when he was honored to be selected as … Continue reading →
This Saturday is the premiere of tvN drama Hwayugi (A Korean Odyssey) and my optimism remains high even as excitement is tempered by the sad news overwhelming K-ent this week with the passing of a much loved male idol. The drama has released official posters, held the press conference, and dropped the long preview so I was surprised to see … Continue reading →
