I’m not surprised this casting didn’t come through but I actually think it’s a missed opportunity both ways. Song Joong Ki has confirmed to pass on 2018 Joseon era fantasy-tinged drama Kingdom by critically acclaimed screenwriter Kim Eun Hee, who wrote Signal, 3 Days, Phantom, and Sign. The drama will be produced by Netflix and aired exclusively on that streaming … Continue reading →
The in demand status of K-actor Yoo Seung Ho continues forward after a successful sageuk outing earlier this year with Ruler: Master of the Mask. He’s confirmed to be considering two different drama offers right now, and with the airing schedule he could conceivably do both, or neither. I’m a bit leaning towards door number three, the keep looking m’boy … Continue reading →
I’m not feeling as much K-drama audience excitement for upcoming pre-produced SBS drama While You Were Sleeping, not sure if it’s due to the leads or the general lack of excitement in K-drama viewing habits. I have faith in screenwriter Park Hye Ryun, her previous works have all been substantively excellent with an ability to write in a fantasy element … Continue reading →
The heat isn’t quite rising yet for soon to premiere new SBS romance drama Temperature of Love, arriving next Monday as Falsify wraps up its run this week. The vibe I get is less hot vat of oil bubbling and more oven on pre-heat, with all the right and light touches in setting up a visually appealing romance drama but … Continue reading →
The top Korean star couple of Kim Tae Hee and Rain have run the gamut of netizen reactions from tsk-tsk he’s not good enough for her to awwwww they are so in love and perfect for each other. I’m glad we’re now at the latter end of the spectrum because they are about to welcome their first child, reportedly a … Continue reading →
This certainly looks fantastically gloomy, just the right mood for a drama about a grim reaper and a woman who can see dead people. The timing is a bit off since supernatural K-dramas are almost always aired in August which in the lunar calendar is ghost month in Asian countries. But fall also works, when the air turns brisk and … Continue reading →
Fall is definitely here in South Korea, or at least Park Shin Hye is dressing for fall as she was spotted at the airport by the K-media to start the week. She’s heading overseas for work and is dressed nicely for the occasion, sensible flat shoes, cute flouncy skirt and t-shirt, and a leather jacket to keep warm on the … Continue reading →
There’s no question that actress Chen Qiao En is the most famous one, by far, to come out of the Taiwanese idol group days of the mid-2000s. She’s also the Beyonce of her own group 7 Flowers, but being famous hasn’t affected her close knit sisterly relationship with her group mates and this weekend she skipped a big charity fashion … Continue reading →
I don’t know what’s going on with the MBC strike but it’s clearly not a promising sign for upcoming dramas on the network most pressing being the Mon-Tues slotted 20th Century Boy and Girl. It’s taking over in less than three weeks from A King Loves and has enough footage in the can for a cute teaser preview released last … Continue reading →
After a six-month work hiatus after an unexpected medical emergency, K-actress Moon Geun Young will be returning to her activities next month in a high profile way. Moon Geun Young’s movie Glass Garden, filmed last year and slated for release at the end of 2017, has been selected as the opening night premiere film at the Busan Film Festival. She … Continue reading →
I’m not a Hyeri fan but am absolutely a fan of well-executed fashion pictorials where the location is highlighted and the model integral and engaging. That’s the cast with the recent September issue of 1st Look pictorial featuring idol-actress Hyeri in Venice. The Italian city is one of the most beautiful locales in the word and instantly recognizable with its … Continue reading →
The Chinese-speaking glitterati was out in full force this weekend at the 15th annual Bazaar China charity event held in Beijing, with many reasons to check out ranging from couple sighting to once again C-stars showing that they do high fashion right. Married Taiwanese acting couple Ruby Lin and Wallace Huo stole the spotlight by making their first public appearance … Continue reading →
K-actor So Ji Sub is pretty consistent on his K-drama schedule, he’s picky rather than prolific but does do a drama on a every few year basis. His most memorable work in the last decade has to be The Master’s Sun and his followup Oh My Venus was like a loaf of unrisen dough that never became more than it’s … Continue reading →
