The great K-ent baby bump watch of 2017 continues as it heads towards the final stretch in both the final calendar quarter and also many expecting actresses in their third trimester already. The two biggest pregnant stars are for sure Jeon Ji Hyun and Kim Tae Hee, the latter even more scrutinized since she’s carrying Hallyu actor-singer Rain‘s progeny to … Continue reading →
Casting has quietly finished up for the main leads of upcoming pre-filmed K-drama Four Men which was announced as the next Park Hae Jin drama vehicle with a story that is the prequel of sorts to his last drama Man to Man. His leading lady is idol-actress Nana, getting her first upgrade to female lead status after a well-received supporting … Continue reading →
This isn’t the leading lady selection among the handful I had in mind when I heard about the Hong Sisters next drama and the likely male leads. The sisters are going back to the tried and true male leads who helped make some of their most successful dramas, Cha Seung Won who worked with them in Best Love and Lee … Continue reading →
C-dramas has a new big hit on its hands and continues the legend of C-actress Sun Li popularity and savvy in picking projects. Her Legend of Zhen Huan remains an iconic work of the past decade in terms of court period dramas and two years ago she did the Legend of Mi Yue with also popular success. Now she’s back … Continue reading →
It’s already the 12th annual Seoul Drama Awards, one of the lesser known of the many awards ceremonies Korea comes up with to laud its own creativity and prowess but this time it’s so lackluster to the point I think it should be renamed the Big Smile Park Duo Awards. The sole noteworthy occurrence at the awards, held on Thursday … Continue reading →
MBC‘s new Wed-Thurs drama Hospital Ship had a fast launch with double digit ratings premiere in the first day but the second day episodes went down in ratings to high single digits. Things appear to have stabilized this week as the medical team on the sea ratings went back up to double digits, with Wed’s episode taking in 10.8% and … Continue reading →
There is a new reason in K-drama land to bring together two fated leads in onscreen cohabitation, if one is homeless and the other house poor then what perfect serendipity for them to cross paths at the park. The vibe for upcoming tvN drama This Life is Our First is totally bathed in the cable network’s light airy atmosphere, as … Continue reading →
Hopefully this will be one of tvN‘s solid romantic drama outings rather than one of it’s flat footed fails, for some reason the network is pretty extreme in either direction when it comes to rom-coms. In terns of now confirmed casting for upcoming Byun Hyuk’s Love it’s definitely picked right, scooping up just out of the military idol-actor Choi Siwon … Continue reading →
If you love screenwriter Kim Eun Hee and/or Kim Eun Sook, the two sat down for a joint question-and-answer session this week in Seoul to share thoughts on their streak of successful K-dramas through the years. First they were asked about upcoming dramas – Kim Eun Hee has Kingdom, the Joseon era zombie drama, and she promises it will be … Continue reading →
It’s here, the first teaser for the highly anticipated (by me!) SBS Wed-Thurs fall drama While You Were Sleeping. It was fully pre-filmed but unlike another pre-produced drama Uncontrollably Fond which was filmed in winter but aired in the summer so all the visuals were wonky with it being boiling outside and the leads swathed in great coats and scarves, … Continue reading →
Oh goody, if the first impression has any merit then upcoming OCN fall drama Black certainly deserves props for delivering a solid visual look. Starring Song Seung Heon and Go Ara, both coming off lackluster sageuk dramas Saimdang: Light’s Diary and Hwarang, respectively, going the opposite direction with a dark modern narrative seems to have been a smart choice in … Continue reading →
Seeing Kim Jae Wook smile so adorably seals the deal for me, I’m watching upcoming SBS Mon-Tues drama Temperature of Love come hell or freezing over. I’m keeping my expectations measure for this drama in terms of ratings, romance dramas tend not to do as well these days with the domestic audience and while Seo Hyun Jin has two recent … Continue reading →
There are many instances for chance encounters but plane sightings are especially lucky for fans since everyone’s cooped up inside the same flying machine. A netizen, who must have been flying first or business class judging from the seats, had a really stupendous spotting of engaged Korean stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo together in a now rare … Continue reading →
