It’s a crazy low ratings premiere for new KBS Mon-Tues drama Ms. Perfect, even by the usual lower ratings standards. The new woman empowerment with a mystery twist arrival premiered with 3.9% AGB nationwide ratings, taking in half of what predecessor Hwarang was getting and Hwarang was considered a ratings disappointment. I’m confused by what Ms. Perfect is about and … Continue reading →
It’s amazing to watch child actress turned teen actress Kim So Hyun continue to blossom so beautifully with nary that awkwardness phase. She’s the face of SOUP 2017 Spring collection, all peaches and various shades of blue that capture brightness and classic styling. She was fantastic in her last turn guest starring in the hit drama Goblin, playing a small … Continue reading →
It’s the annual Chinese Drama Awards in Beijing and this year’s gala including plenty of popular and familiar faces of C-ent. 2016 was a decent year for C-dramas though nothing hooked me quite like Nirvana in Fire did in 2015 and Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms is doing right now to start off 2017. I’m checking out … Continue reading →
I’m not going to feel schadenfreude to hear this news but there are some who are understandably going to react with a “you get what’s due” sense of inevitable. TW-news is reporting that dating stars Cyndi Wang and Yao Yuan Hao have called it quits after four years together, or five years together if you add the year prior when she … Continue reading →
The Goblin is out and about this weekend in Seoul, looking fly and happy attending a brand event and dazzling the fans. Gong Yoo may have hung up his immortal mantle and resumed like as just a top star with millions of fans, but the charm and originality of his character and performance in Goblin will stay with him for … Continue reading →
It’s not often that I’m taken aback by entertainment offerings but color me happily surprised by the latest Allure Korea beauty pictorial featuring not an actress or idol starlet but instead male idol-singer Jo Kwon. He’s someone who has never shied away from his androgynous beauty and performs with confidence on stage even when doing musicals like Priscilla, Queen of … Continue reading →
It’s a hit right off the bat for new Fri-Sat cable network jTBC drama Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. Friday’s premiere started off with an impressive for cable 3.829% ratings and Saturday’s second episode rose another 1.9% to hit 5.758%. This blows away the competition over on tvN as Tomorrow With You has stalled at 1.839% for Friday’s episode and … Continue reading →
I really miss my Goblin cuties, with re-watching the drama not enough thrill compared to the excitement of live watching the drama for two months. Nothing so far in 2017 has hooked me, forget to the degree I was obsessed with Goblin, but a breather from intense drama viewing is needed to reset. The leads of Goblin are all headed … Continue reading →
Taiwan is a pretty woke country in terms of being culturally and socially progressive and it’s especially nice to see the entertainers always stepping up as representatives of positive outreach. This week top stars Chris Wu and Yao Yao (Guo Shu Yao) took a day off to attend the press conference for the “No Means No” public service announcement campaign … Continue reading →
K-actor Seo In Guk may be saying farewell for the next two year soon, as K-ent is reporting that his scheduled military enlistment date is March 28th. His agency responded that the date isn’t set yet but he is for sure enlisting this year so fans still need to ready for his departure soon. I became a fan after his … Continue reading →
In what will go down as one of the weirdest intersections of politics and entertainment news, the supremely random reveal a few months ago that beleaguered South Korean President Park Geun Hye used the fake and thoroughly improbable name of Gil Ra Im to receive beauty treatments at a clinic. Through no fault of her own, poor Ha Ji Won … Continue reading →
Fans of tense well-written thriller dramas have something to look forward to by year end, and same goes for fans of zombie flicks. K-drama writer Kim Eun Hee, who penned Signal, 3 Days, Phantom, and Sign, is writing a script a upcoming drama about zombies in Joseon. This is different than the movie being produced about zombies in Joseon that … Continue reading →
It’s a sigh of relief to see at least one star presence at the VIP premiere of the movie A Single Rider not look like a fashion victim. Other than Park Shin Hye, low key and effortlessly chic, everyone else got hit with either the clothing fail, the makeup monstrosity, and/or the hair woes. If I add Eom Ji Won … Continue reading →
