It’s another movie for Hyun Bin! He’s probably still smarting from the epic fail in ratings and quality of his last K-drama Hyde, Jekyll, Me, but more likely just making savvy project choices in film due to the continued uneven quality of television fare. Filming has wrapped for Binnie’s upcoming North and South Korean thriller movie Cooperation costarring Yoo Hae … Continue reading →
It’s the perfect time to check in with the K-drama adaptation of Bu Bu Jing Xin (Bobogyungsim: Ryeo or Scarlet Heart: Ryeo), with the drama confirmed to premiere on August 29th in the Mon-Tues time slot on SBS following the conclusion of medical romance Doctors with Park Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won. The drama is fully pre-produced and will … Continue reading →
There genuine sad news from K-ent this weekend, unrelated to scandals or misbehaving Korean stars. Actor Kim Sung Min has passed away after an attempted suicide attempt earlier this week. Best known for supporting roles in many a K-drama, with his biggest break playing the second male lead in Fantasy Couple with Han Ye Seul and Oh Ji Ho, Kim … Continue reading →
Rising K-actor Park Bo Gum has such a sunny boy-next-door image, he’s basically the successor to Song Joong Ki making it even more adorable that they are good friends in real life. That makes me want Park Bo Gum to do a dark tortured type melodrama like Song Joong Ki did with Nice Guy, a transformation of image that also … Continue reading →
There are tons more eyes on Song Joong Ki nowadays thanks to his hit drama Descendants of the Sun, and he’s parting ways with the trendy fare and taking on a heavy hitting acting project for his next role. Filming has started on Battleship Island, a movie based on the nickname of Gunkanjima (Battleship Island) also known as Hashima Island in … Continue reading →
I think the only upside for disgraced Korean singer-actor Kim Hyun Joong now is that he’s not at risk for going to jail. Other than that there is nothing but a continued downward spiral for his shameful conduct which began two years ago when his ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence abuse and then mushroomed into a makjang saga of … Continue reading →
I think Joo Won can breathe a small sigh of relief right now, not a full sigh at least not until the drama airs. The open casting call, or however open it really was behind the scenes, has culminated in the selection of a leading lady for Joo Won in the upcoming K-drama version of popular classic Hallyu movie My … Continue reading →
C-actor Yang Yang will be in two big novel adaptations airing soon, but finds himself doing the drama in one and the movie in another. For the adaptation of One Smile is Very Alluring, Yang Yang and Zheng Shuang will be in the drama version, which has released its official poster and plenty of drama stills, and now the movie … Continue reading →
I’m halfway through reading the C-novel A Lonesome Fragrance Waiting to be Appreciated (孤芳不自赏 Gu Fang Bu Zhi Shang) and am oddly stalled even though it’s entertaining enough. Maybe seeing the first stills from the C-drama adaptation will spur me to pick it back up, though English title of General and I makes me want to chortle. Starring Wallace Chung … Continue reading →
The combination of Lee Jong Seok and Han Hyo Joo in the promo posters for W: Two Worlds totally sells them as a couple for me. There is a bright warmth about them even with such uninteresting backgrounds, with Han Hyo Joo’s patented toothy beaming smile and Lee Jong Seok with his trademark grin. The light blue dress and slightly … Continue reading →
This is the most substantive preview yet for Uncontrollably Fond, and makes me hope the happy moments establish the OTP romance tightly before the melodrama hits the fan. I need to ship Suzy and Kim Woo Bin‘s characters intensely so that I can weather their separation and root for their reunion. I see the truck of doom again, along with … Continue reading →
After Choi Ji Woo hit a sweet spot with cable in tvN drama Second Time Twenty Again, two more forty and over are heading to cable and also doing the pre-produced format. Kim Hee Sun and Kim Sun Ah are in talks for jTBC drama Classy Her (or Her with Class), making it not just female lead centric but also … Continue reading →
SBS premiered two new prime time dramas this week to opposite spectrum results, and the one win greatly trumps the one loss if you ask me. Doctors with Park Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won burst out of the gate to fantastic ratings, garnering 12.9% AGB nationwide on Monday and the second episode rose 1.3% to bring in 14.2% AGB nationwide … Continue reading →
