This isn’t quite up to snuff but no biggie since it’s just a short ten second teaser not to mention recently a drama reminded me that lackluster promos isn’t a surefire death knell. The first teaser is out for upcoming MBC drama Goodbye Mr. Black, and for the sake of the production team I hope the drama doesn’t premiere to … Continue reading →
Okay, this drama looks soooo cute, and in the cute I mean that unique Taiwanese idol drama definition of it. The first substantive teasers are out for upcoming SETTV Sunday night drama Refresh Man, which feels a bit late since the drama premieres this coming Sunday after Bromance finished last week. Refresh Man stars popular singer-actors Aaron Yan and Joanne … Continue reading →
I said I would keep my expectations low for Descendants of the Sun, and I can’t say I really did it all that well. As the premiered neared I couldn’t help but get more and more excited. Song Joong Ki! Glossy overseas shoot! Kim Eun Sook potentially writing herself back to the glory days of City Hall! There was just … Continue reading →
There are myriad reasons to be interested or disappointed with any upcoming entertainment product due to it’s previews, but the most substantive has got to be the simple reason that it looks awesome or totally stupid. Gotta give famed Japanese director Miike Takashi credit for tackling the live-action adaptation of popular sci-fi shonen manga Terraformars, too bad the first preview … Continue reading →
I don’t know if there ever really was an entire era of the star led K-drama wave, when viewers tuned in solely for the actor or actress alone. That clearly is not the case in recent years, with A-list stars fizzing out on television drama ratings and newbies garnering top shelf viewership on the strength of the drama story. My … Continue reading →
I was expecting the first official stills of Moon Chae Won from her upcoming MBC drama Goodbye Mr. Black and the production is right on schedule. Following on the one-two punch of leading men Lee Jin Wook and Kim Kang Woo, the first peek at leading lady Moon Chae Won is a solid win for me. She rocks the short … Continue reading →
Now this is what I call a promising promo! Descendants of the Sun is premiering in T-minus 8 hours and the production finally did something that piques my interest fully. The drama released a third and final poster mere hours before the first episode premiere that is way better than the first two, and by a long shot. It shows … Continue reading →
There has been so much Chinese and Korean entertainment product exchanges in the last few years alone I’m starting to feel like both sides of the border deal with the same issues whether successes or failures. Chinese fans love a breakout success story and the nation’s “insert role here” moniker as much as their Korean counterparts. The last few months … Continue reading →
Upcoming KBS sageuk Hwarang is casting like the second coming of the K-version of Bu Bu Jing Xin, and hilariously might air opposite each other. Hwarang is slated for Wed-Thurs in the fall following Arbitrarily Fond while K-BBJX is pre-filming right now with an eye towards simultaneous airing in Korea and China later this year. The leads of Hwarang were … Continue reading →
The cross-border couples on previous iterations of variety show We Got Married and it’s Chinese counterpart We Are In Love have all been by and large successful despite of any language barriers or cultural differences. That means the pressure is on for TW-actor Bolin Chen and K-actress Song Ji Hyo as their embark on their made for television romance in … Continue reading →
The men folk of upcoming MBC drama Goodbye Mr. Black are the first to meet the audiences, with male lead Lee Jin Wook (above) and his onscreen nemesis Kim Kang Woo (below) looking intense and showcasing a propensity for guns. On the gun side Kim Kang Woo gets the win with a sharpshooter rifle over Lee Jin Woo’s pistol, not to … Continue reading →
I put the best picture first from the press conference for KBS drama Descendants of the Sun, because laughing Song Joong Ki makes everything better and it’s rare to see Song Hye Kyo so openly exuberant in place of her usual calm contentment. Sadly for the most part the entire press conference come off like a faculty luncheon introducing new … Continue reading →
I don’t want to pile on what is happening currently to this unfortunate K-pop girl’s group, but then again maybe this is really a crafty self-aware case of viral programming and my writing about them is exactly what they would want. As the news cycle confirms over and over again, there is basically no such thing as bad publicity, only … Continue reading →
