Babies are so cute! I love babies which automatically triggers my cooing reflex, but as a television viewer I’m not sure babies make the best onscreen cast member. There appears to be a shakeup coming to hit K-variety show Superman is Back, the show featuring celeb daddies doing their paternal parenting solo and either succeeding or looking haggard. I watch … Continue reading →
As advertisers are looking at things in a different light, so are the metrics for measuring a successful or popular drama. Movies still rely on box office but television shows don’t just use box top ratings anymore as viewership has migrated to streaming. Korean polling site Gooddata published a study of the most buzzed about K-dramas of 2015 measured by … Continue reading →
Park Hyung Sik is certainly a young actor willing to challenge himself. I think he’s fared exceedingly well in his last three acting forays – he got positive face time in the big name packed cast of Heirs, stepped up to young leading man opposite heavy weights in weekend drama What’s With this Family, and deftly stole the drama as … Continue reading →
There hasn’t been as many Taiwan celebrity weddings as there are in Korea, hence fewer pre-wedding star pictorials. Of course the over-the-top splendor and extravagance of Jay Chou and Hannah Quinlivan‘s wedding last year takes the cake for a long time to come, but some couples are less into fairy tales and more into sleek chic. Taiwanese stars Sunny Wang and … Continue reading →
I hate to sound like one adverse to change, and I certainly appreciate a daring makeover for the willingness to experiment, but in this case can I have old Moon Chae Won back? Jeon Ji Hyun is notable in K-ent among leading ladies for never ever switching up her style of long haired natural sexiness, but aside from her nearly … Continue reading →
When I’m busy, and lately I’ve been busier then ever, it feels like currently airing dramas are passing me by and new dramas are arriving way before I’m ready. Script reading took place last week for upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama One More Happy Ending, taking over towards the end of January 2016 for Sweet Savage Family. Starring Jang Nara, Jung … Continue reading →
Time off to get married and have a baby is a hard break for any entertainer’s career, but when it comes to Lee Min Jung there is an added hurdle for her to overcome in coming back. She’s married to one of the most famous Korean stars in Lee Byung Hun, but his fame has been tinted with scandal since … Continue reading →
Consider me impressed by Ji Chang Wook’s career expansion into Mainland China. It’s certainly following in similar footsteps of other popular Hallyu stars, heading there to do dramas, singing, or model after a hit K-drama or movie opens the floodgates of recognition. In Ji Chang Wook’s case it’s all due to the one-two punch of Empress Ki and Healer, but … Continue reading →
Last week SBS quietly wrapped up the run on Wed-Thurs drama The Village (Achiara’s Secret), a drama that never got much traction or buzz but was reportedly well made enough to not be a blight on the resume of the cast and crew despite the low ratings. This week sees the premiere of Remember with Yoo Seung Ho as the … Continue reading →
The return to television of famed screenwriter Kim Soo Hyun is going to happen in a big way, or more aptly in a long way. Kim Soo Hyun’s upcoming SBS weekend drama Yes That’s How It Is will be airing for 70-episodes, which is insanely long considering it’s not a half hour daily drama. That’s Jumong in length, and Jumong … Continue reading →
The last chapter of Lost You Forever was so action packed everyone needed to take a breather to assess the current impasse. Jing is likely dead, so Xiao Yao is depressed, and Xiao Yao being depressed makes Zhuan Xu upset, but then he’s probably not all that upset since in the long run Jing’s not his romantic rival anymore. Sadly … Continue reading →
I feel like very few current K-drama viewers will remember who Heo Yi Jae is, and really four years isn’t that long a time to be away but it certainly feels like her time has passed her by. Former K-drama leading lady Heo Yi Jae has recently been making a slow return to the entertainment world, four years after she … Continue reading →
God I love this drama so much, so *bleeping* much. The pace is slowing down in Marry Me or Not, but the narrative is deepening because of it as the characters try to figure out what they are really feeling about each other. Episode 6 was yet another phenomenal outing, funny and tense and romantic all wrapped into one. I’m … Continue reading →
