SBS Mon-Tues drama High Society wraps up this week, and it couldn’t happen faster for me. The drama was definitely promising early on but a lack of chemistry between the main leads and scene-stealing by the second leads upended the general viewing experience, plus the final stretch plot lameless just grounded everything to a halt. It’s probably a good thing … Continue reading →
From start to finish, the engagement and wedding of Bae Yong Joon and Park Soo Jin has been just so weird to behold. The biggest surprise has to be how little the K-ent public seems to be interested in this event, when ten years ago it would be headline news for weeks on end and crazy intense Yonsama fangirls might even … Continue reading →
Consider me optimistically impressed with the latest round of substantive peeks at upcoming jTBC disaster drama D-Day. Just the concept alone is worth checking out, leaving the typical K-drama genres behind and embracing a gritty urgent story about medical professionals responding to a major disaster striking Seoul. US shows have done this to death and back but K-dramas rarely tread … Continue reading →
Upcoming MBC drama She Was Pretty is shaping up to be right up from alley with the cast. The final member of the main leads was revealed today and the second male lead will be none other than Choi Siwon of Super Junior. Siwon had a bit part cameo in the KBS drama Masked Prosecutor but other than that hasn’t … Continue reading →
It’s a week of double congratulations for K-actress Jeon Ji Hyun, and what better way to share the good news then with a brand new media spread featuring the forever lovely Ms. Jeon as she did the promotional rounds for her new movie Assassination. Jeon Ji Hyun is living both a personal and professional high this week, with the personal … Continue reading →
Preparations are underway for the second season of popular Chinese fashion competition show The Goddess’s New Outfit. The Chinese title has changed slightly from 女神的新衣 (The Goddess’s New Clothes) to 女神新装 (The Goddess’s New Outfit). The final casting line up of five goddesses includes the sole Korean entertainer in Yoon Eun Hye, Taiwanese model actress Bea Hayden, and three Chinese actresses in Ying … Continue reading →
Fans of this webtoon will be excited for this news, I haven’t read it myself but am excited there is another concrete K-drama to look forward to. So I Married an Anti-fan is the next Korean webtoon getting the small screen treatment, having been scooped up for a K-drama adaptation. I really don’t follow Korean webtoons so am always surprised … Continue reading →
This is entirely a Jung So Min visual admiring post, one that isn’t that hard to write when she looks so stunning in the July summer issue of Sure magazine. Some pictorials are to hawk wares such as watches, jewelry, purses, and of course clothes, but here I think it’s a makeup targeted shoot since her outfit is hardly seen … Continue reading →
If there is a thing called backfiring then SM Entertainment might want to consider giving a class because the company is certainly doing a bang up job at it. This week was the solo mini album release in China by former EXO member Tao (Huang Zi Tao), a development I covered recently only as confirmation that he’s finally left the … Continue reading →
I love sharing pop culture from Asia when it dovetails perfectly in what I blog about and happens to be too hilarious not to share the lulz. The film gods smiled down on Chinese entertainment this week with the arrival of the biggest and brand spanking new Chinese buzz word of the summer so far in Horse Shaking (马震 ma zhen), … Continue reading →
I’ve seen recurring commentary on recent Lee Min Ho posts that he just doesn’t look as good anymore. Of course that’s still balanced out by plenty of “oppa is so hot!” comments, but there are clearly enough opinions of his downgraded visuals to merit considering that point of view. I think he still looks good, definitely movie star handsome, but … Continue reading →
The bad hair trend is continuing on the heads of some universally lauded as gorgeous actors. First came Won Bin at his own wedding, next was Yoo Seung Ho last week at a CF brand event, and finally this week So Ji Sub saunters in with a combination of those two bad styles into a new even uglier do. I … Continue reading →
Episode 6 was by far the most substantive and interesting episode of Scholar Who Walks the Night since the fantastic start. That’s not saying much since the drama still relies too much on shoving Sung Yul and Yang Sun down our throats. I do want Sung Yul and Yang Sun, eventually and at a well plotted pace, not the current … Continue reading →
