First there was Oh My Ghost this summer, now get ready for Oh My God coming this fall. A big drama casting news broke yesterday in a double serving of awesome – So Ji Sub and Shin Mina are confirmed as the leads for upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Oh My God. This comes on the heel of another upcoming KBS … Continue reading →
This is one of the smaller film festivals in Korea but the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) actually celebrated it’s 19th year holding the event this week. Not bad for a film festival held in one of the smaller cities in South Korea and with a smaller niche of fantasy movies such as supernatural, horror, and mystery. BiFan still … Continue reading →
Leave it to upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Yongpal (Korean title Yongpalyi) to jolt me awake. I don’t necessarily like the first teaser (still mulling it over), but it’s definitely dramatic and memorable, though KBS revenge thriller Shark did something very similar which takes points off Yongpal for originality. Currently airing doppleganger melodrama Mask remains the ratings leader in the time … Continue reading →
I got flashbacks to one aspect of Dr. Stranger with today’s episode of Scholar Who Walks the Night, with the arrival of Myung Hee’s doppleganger turning this into another potential girl 1 or girl 2 camp fight. I pray to the drama gods that the love lines solidify and shake out as quickly as possible because the preferences of who … Continue reading →
Casting is starting on the recently announced upcoming KBS drama slated for early 2016 tentatively called Murim School, with the Murim the same meaning as the Chinese phrase wu lin (武林) which means the world of wuxia martial arts. This Murim School (武林学校) is situated in Korea and accepts students from around the world with the goal of teaching them … Continue reading →
The upcoming one-two punch of sequential live-action Attack on Titan movies is getting closer to meeting the audience, with the summer movie season in full swing and the cast ramping up promotions. Last week the four leads Miura Haruma, Mizuhara Kiko, Hongo Kanata, and Ishikara Satomi joined their movie director Higuchi Shinji on a press event at the location where … Continue reading →
Famed K-actress Lee Young Ae made a double news splash this week in her usual low key but undeniably classy way. First came news that filming is about to start on her upcoming fully pre-filmed K-drama Saimdang, the Herstory. With this news came two production created posters featuring Lee Young Ae in her costume hanbok playing the titular role of … Continue reading →
Scholar Who Walks the Night continues everything that worked for me in the first two episodes, as well as the stuff that didn’t quite hit the spot. At least the drama is nothing if not consistent, and quite persistent as well when it comes to all the leads setting their minds (and fangs) on a set goal. Sung Yul’s entire … Continue reading →
Fun K-drama casting rumors, more legit than random fan daydreams of “I want so-and-so to star in this drama”, are making the rounds to shake up this Wednesday hump day. DC is abuzz with two separate juicy casting reveals by a poster who has a great track record of casting spoilers that later turn out to be true. Even then, … Continue reading →
It’s another Monday and another edition of Koala eats her words. This particular opinion set is for rising actress Lim Ji Yeon, who was an unknown a year ago before she landed the leading lady role in the erotic movie Obsessed opposite Song Seung Heon. She’s since followed up with a leading lady role in yet another erotic movie, this … Continue reading →
It doesn’t look like recently premiered MBC drama Scholar Who Walks the Night has the draw to become a buzzy hit either domestically or with online audiences, aside from those who like any of the leads in the cast or are in the mood for some potentially cheesy yet tasty star-crossed vampire romance. I’m both, plus a fan of the original … Continue reading →
I loved Kill Me Heal Me to pieces so this news has me bracing for the worst even as I’m deathly curious about the outcome. KMHM was one of the buzziest K-dramas of 2015, ratings middling like all the dramas these days but generating tons of buzz and trends along with awards nominations. The drama aired on MBC but was … Continue reading →
It’s looking more and more unlikely that Shin Mina will be returning to the small screen this year. She’s been signed on for SBS drama Will You Have Dinner with Me (Let’s Have Dinner Together) since May but the drama was bumped from the network’s summer schedule for upcoming darker melo Yongpalyi with Joo Won and Kim Tae Hee. That’s a … Continue reading →
