I’m so psyched for upcoming SBS drama High Society it’s not even funny. Sure all my early enthusiasm sets myself up for a high likelihood of disappointment, but this drama wasn’t even on my radar initially so this gradual interest in it strikes me as less fangirling and more drama enthusiast reacting to something potentially awesome. Leads UEE, Sung Joon, … Continue reading →
Gotta give credit to upcoming K-movie Beauty Inside for coming up with movie posters that explain the story conceit and look good while doing it. A man named Woo Jin who finds himself waking up every day looking like someone else, crossing genders and age groups willy nilly. It’s a crazy problem to be sure, made all the worse when he … Continue reading →
It must be a slow news week when the personal travel plans of three K-stars made multiple front page news. This had a tinge of Dispatch catching surreptitious couples on an overseas jaunt, but without the salacious aside and definitely no homoerotic subtext in any of the articles I read. Best friends Jo In Sung, Song Joong Ki, and Kwang … Continue reading →
Taiwan entertainment was unexpectedly rocked with sad news this week with the passing of 31 year old singer-actor Shone An. I’ve been familiar with Shone for over a decade since he broke into the industry as part of the Taiwanese boy band Comic Boys (which also included now serious actor Kingone Wang). The group disbanded years ago and Shone transitioned into … Continue reading →
I now like Shin Se Kyung, so it pains me to hear her getting cast in a new drama that serves to bring back memories of one of her biggest flop projects (and performances) to date. Shin Se Kyung just wrapped The Girl Who Sees Smells for SBS but must love the grueling drama shoot and the network because she … Continue reading →
I feel like I’ve seen these pictures before, and then remembered that I already saw the lead up moments before these pictures were snapped. KBS released the script reading pictures of the big budget upcoming drama Descendants of the Sun, which isn’t as exciting to see since the media already published pictures of the four leads heading into KBS studios … Continue reading →
With Heard it Through the Grapevine wrapped up this week, I can devote all my attention on the next SBS Mon-Tues drama High Society (formerly Chaebol’s Daughter). It is reportedly getting an English title of The Privileged, which sounds like a horror show circa The CW, so I’ll stick with calling it the translation of the Korean title of High … Continue reading →
[Hey peeps, let’s give a big welcome back for jomo, who spent all of summer 2014 writing lovely heartfelt recaps for My Spring Days, and is back with a first impressions take on cable drama Ex-Girlfriend Club. I hope her schedule looks good this summer so she can share more of her insightful caring drama analysis with us. xoxo Koala.] TvN‘s … Continue reading →
Color me genuinely impressed with the early results from K-actress Park Min Young‘s foray into Chinese dramas. While idol-actress Suzy was reportedly the production’s first choice as leading lady, ultimately I think it worked out wonderfully all around for Park Min Young to accept period C-drama Braveness of the Ming. Acting opposite Hans Zhang, who is no stranger to working … Continue reading →
It’s so relaxing watching Lee Jun Ki goof off and act all serious on the set of currently filming MBC drama Scholar Who Walks the Night. The casting problems with this drama are widely known, casting a spectre of concern over the entire proceedings, as if the casting roulette is a sign of the drama’s lack of quality. It may … Continue reading →
Upcoming SBS weekend drama The Time I Loved You, 7000 Days just started filming this past weekend, not as late as some dramas have had to play catch up but quite late taking into account how early this drama finished casting and securing the PD and screenwriter. The big hitch (and it was BIG) was PD Jo Soo Won abruptly … Continue reading →
Ha Ji Won has a reputation within K-ent not only of being an A-list leading lady in her own right but also being a leading man maker. She’s known for making leading men who work with her vault to the next level, some of the most notable cases being Hyun Bin after Secret Garden, Ji Chang Wook after Empress Ki, … Continue reading →
The C-ent happy romance news this past week sadly didn’t extend to K-ent, which was relatively quiet on the relationship front in recent months but has now been hit with a one-two punch of star couples breaking up. The bigger break up news comes from the idol world as Tiffany of SNSD and Nichkhun of 2PM officially broke up after … Continue reading →
