I’m inclined to wash my hands for the time being on the casting shenanigans around fantasy vampire sageuk Scholar Who Walks the Night. Did MBC send out a mass invite to all leading lady actresses in the same age range and then sat back to see who would bite? It’s exhausting at this point to see one name floated only … Continue reading →
There’s no clearer sign that Lee Jin Wook has passed on Hello Monster than to hear that another leading man is being offered the gig. Is it considered trading up or down that the role is moving from Lee Jin Wook to Lee Sang Yoon? Maybe just trading sideways, considering both were well-received leading men in a tvN cable drama … Continue reading →
The detective squad and the bar code serial killer investigation gets shaken up a bit in this episode of The Girl Who Sees Smells (Sensory Couple), which continues to nicely balance the crime mystery with steady character development. Moo Gak and Cho Rim remain so super cute together, her playful and him stoic, and then switching it up with him being … Continue reading →
I hope SBS didn’t snigger too much when it saw the casting woes lately over on MBC with both Scholar Who Walks the Night and Feeling Good and Warm and also befalling KBS with Who Are You: School 2015. If SBS felt like gloating then it’s time for some humble pie as karma just arrived to smack upcoming SBS Mon-Tues … Continue reading →
Even though KBS currently leads the Wed-Thurs ratings with its bad ladies behaving badly drama Unkind Women, it’s never too early to think ahead. Compared to the constant casting news whiplash coming out of MBC these days, KBS should thank its lucky stars that the next Wed-Thurs drama Masked Prosectutor managed to cast the very first leads Joo Sang Wook … Continue reading →
Count me in with the group that is not surprised Song Joong Ki landed the male lead role in Kim Eun Sook‘s big budget high profile upcoming drama Descendants of the Sun. I love him as an actor and a genuinely nice guy, but even then I’m still constantly taken aback at how popular and beloved he is in Korea. … Continue reading →
This casting news will make a lot of people happy, though I was personally indifferent either way. Jin Se Yeon has officially declined the offer to be Lee Jun Ki‘s leading lady in Scholar Who Walks the Night. If she had accepted, it would not be her first sageuk as she was the child actress in the sageuk The Duo … Continue reading →
I continue to love The Girl Who Sees Smells, no ifs buts or caveats. For a drama with a dark serial killer underbelly, this story makes me laugh way more than even pure rom-coms that deal with only light subject matters. What works is natural laughs that comes from sweet and sassy Cho Rim and her alchemy interactions with dour … Continue reading →
The best part of K-drama kiss scenes, aside from granting the viewer the thrill of seeing the leads get all up close and personal, is that a good kiss scene forms bite sized satisfaction regardless of how good the drama is overall. One thing that kept me sane recapping craptastic Hyde, Jekyll, Me was the unanimous feedback from everyone else … Continue reading →
When the casting news first broke Wednesday morning about Kim So Eun joining the upcoming MBC vampire fantasy sageuk Scholar Who Walks the Night, the details were unclear as to whether she was up for the leading lady role or a leading lady role. That’s a huge distinction since the former means she’s the heroine of the tale and the … Continue reading →
My boy Yoo Seung Ho is basically a baby male god status right now in Korea. From halmonis on down to elementary school kids, he’s beloved in Korea comparable to the Moon Geun Young‘s popularity heyday from her Painter of the Wind era. Koreans love their talented child actors and Yoo Seung Ho has the added bonus of behaving perfectly … Continue reading →
This is most excellent drama news, but a word of caution not to get too excited since it’s still a ways out and much can change in the interim. SBS is lining up dramas well into the summer and a new production joins the busy line up with modern workplace romance Let’s Have Dinner Together. The drama will be adapted … Continue reading →
Leave it to Yoon Eun Hye to stir up talk and interest even doing something as mundane (for a celebrity) as attending a brand promotional launch event. Yoon Eun Hye stepped out today in Seoul for a L’Oreal Paris beauty campaign, sporting the same reddish tinted hair color she’s been rocking since last month when she jetted off to Paris … Continue reading →
