The bad publicity keeps dogging SBS recently and I can’t help but feel it’s primarily self-inflicted by the bad decisions made by the network. There’s the desperate effort to revive audience interest in the flagging prime time drama Hyde, Jekyll, Me, and now even the popular SBS variety show Running Man is in hot waters due to an unfortunately thought … Continue reading →
I’ve been tapping my toes impatiently waiting for the C-remake of Queen In Hyun’s Man to drop me a video teaser or two. The pretty (so so pretty) drama stills are nice and all but I want to look at the mood in action. I remember being uninterested in Queen In Hyun’s Man until I watched the brilliantly done teaser … Continue reading →
Turns out the drama Hyde, Jekyll, Me is nothing like the story of the webtoon Dr. Jekyll Is Mr. Hyde even though it was licensed from that work. Begs the question of why bother, or if it was just to license the concept only without running afoul of copyright laws, then who in their right mind at SBS gave the … Continue reading →
I wonder how long the KBS Friday night drama experiment will keep going considering it’s now had two consecutive ratings and reception busts. The time slot was transitioned to airing dramas starting with Hi School: Love On! with Kim Sae Ron acting opposite two idol newbie actors in Infinite‘s Woohyun and Sungyeol. Next came the currently airing mommy issues with … Continue reading →
Leave it to Ji Sung to keep garnering positive buzz for his performance thus far in the MBC Wed-Thurs drama Kill Me Heal Me. It’s the current ratings leader even if the ratings are still low double digits as is the general ratings landscape for all the weekday prime time dramas. What marketers love isn’t just ratings but buzz, which … Continue reading →
The official drama posters are out for the upcoming KBS vampire medical drama Blood, taking over the Mon-Tues slot from the underrated Healer. I’m sure fans of the leads of this drama will claim I’m piling on yet again but the posters are so whiplash inducing I can’t even. Is it a rom-com, what with Gu Hye Sun and Ahn … Continue reading →
I like to think any drama that brings young crazy talented K-movie star Go Ah Sung back to drama land must be worth checking out. She’s had no shortage of drama offers in the five years since her last television appearance in God of Study but nothing has interested her to return until now with Heard it Through the Grapevine. … Continue reading →
I don’t have a problem with rich and happily in love entertainers going overboard with the romantic proposals or wedding festivities. It’s a happy occasion and if they have the money and have no problems spending it then be my guest. I do enjoy poking fun at particular garish displays that make me wonder if money didn’t come with taste, … Continue reading →
I can never understand why being disappointed with certain performances and projects by an entertainer suddenly gets my fan status revoked. Sorry for not being blind and delulu to the point that even if oppa/unni farts I’ll proclaim it sweet smelling. Just like some acting talent can coast for a long time on goodwill from one major successful role, my … Continue reading →
This so-called breaking dating news almost seems inevitable and bound to elicit angry fan reaction based on other recent developments, yet at the same time it’s still just two happy people dating which is never a bad thing. Tabloid fixture The Fact (formerly Sports Seoul) has just released photo evidence of resurgent popular K-actress Kim So Eun out on a late … Continue reading →
With all the naysayers around the relationship of aging C-rocker Wang Feng and his much more famous girlfriend China’s top actress Zhang Zi Yi, it’s no wonder he decided to go big or go home when the time came to propose to his lady love. Love her or hate her, Zhang Zi Yi indisputably is the first Chinese actress to … Continue reading →
I feel bad for Kim Rae Won that the noir gangster movie Gangnam 1970 has basically become the Lee Min Ho show with the lopsided fan promotion of the movie from his much larger fanbase. The plus side is that more people see the movie and that’s good for the entire production, yes? I haven’t watched the movie but the … Continue reading →
There was a total deja vu recall when I saw recent Japanese news reports, tabloids and weekly ladies journals and the like, reporting on the likely upcoming Sept wedding between A-list stars Matsumoto Jun and Inoue Mao. Did I time travel back six months ago when the same rags were reporting the same thing? Only after reading the actual articles … Continue reading →
