If I didn’t know how smoldering Kingone Wang could be onscreen opposite his leading ladies in any drama, I would be freaking out right now based on how terribly awkward he is doing the promo rounds with Kirsten Jen for upcoming SETTV Sunday night drama Someone Like You (Chinese title Hearing Happiness). He looks alternately confused and sullen, even when … Continue reading →
The 2014 MBC Drama Awards mostly went off without a hitch, other than the Jaejoong last minute inexplicable no-show hiccup and all the winners being as predicted to make the evening feel rather dull. The fashion parade was more interesting for me what with the sequins and lace everywhere and the stark contrast between white/gold versus black. The Daesang went … Continue reading →
I’m going to believe nothing can keep on out-randoming the performing line ups for Chinese new year television specials, whether it’s for Lunar new year celebrations or the Gregorian new year extravaganzas. The fact that it keeps involving Lee Min Ho leaves me scratching my head. Last year he performed in front of billions at the CCTV Lunar new year … Continue reading →
Normally this wouldn’t merit a standalone post but this particular occurrence is so last minute and egregious it bugs me enough to write about it. The network drama awards are a show like any other and tickets go on sale to the public to attend and sit in the back while the entertainers sit at round tables in the front. … Continue reading →
MBC must’ve sent the costume coordinator for Kill Me Heal Me out to buy an entire shopping basket full of eyeliner. At the rate that Ji Sung is going through it to whenever the leader of Cha Do Hyun’s six other personalities comes out to play, that might not even be enough. All of Do Hyun’s other personalities have names … Continue reading →
I’m still mulling over the turn hard left direction Pinocchio took in the last episode 14. I’ve enjoyed all the twists and turns so far even if most of the events hinge on massive coincidences and what feels like three degrees of separation. It’s rough but more satisfying watching a story based on bad luck combined with bad decisions rather … Continue reading →
After a few weeks of who’s going and who’s not going, the year end major three Korean network drama awards shows have ironed out the attendee list. There are surprises and expected absences so I’ll started with the upside first. Jeon Ji Hyun is the shocker of the night, coming out of her beauty hibernation to attend the SBS year … Continue reading →
Looks like I’m starting off 2015 more interested in the upcoming Chinese-language dramas than K-dramas. I’m dying for the TW-drama Someone Like You to start (please be good!) in early January while across the Strait there is upcoming C-dramaĀ My Sunshine adapted from the popular online novel Silent Separation (ä½ä»„ē¬ē®«é» He Yi Sheng Xiao Mo). I actually read the original novel … Continue reading →
I have an inkling that Pinocchio may turn me into a full blown Lee Jong Seok fangirl. It can’t be helped if that happens since his character is beyond awesome. I grew to like him after falling for his Dr. Park Hoon in Dr. Stranger so it’ll be just going to the logical conclusion to grow that like to love … Continue reading →
I have to give Kill Me Heal Me credit for fixing the leak on a sinking ship. Or perhaps MBC pulled some strings to get leads Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum onboard so late in the game to spice up the joint. The first stills are also unexpectedly decent, all in all this hot mess is looking like it … Continue reading →
King Kong Entertainment is one of the smaller outfits out there and had a bunch of actresses leave the agency this year including Kim Sun Ah, Honey Lee, Park Min Young, Sung Yuri, Song Hyo Rim and Lee Chung Ah. Its male actor stable remains quite strong including Kwang Soo and Lee Dong Wook, and this year was quite good … Continue reading →
I love how SETTVĀ appears willing to make the effort with upcoming Sunday night drama Someone Like You. The concept promos already look classy with every pretty penny seen in a bevy of couple stills featuring leads Kingone Wang and Kirsten Jen. It’s been a long time since a drama captured my attention and interest this completely from the first still … Continue reading →
The first teaser is out for the KBS Friday night drama Spy and it reminds me yet again not to believe I have a clue what a drama has in store by the concept and casting alone. The teaser has got a weird off-kilter old school superhero TV show vibe. It almost feels like the heroes and villains are marked … Continue reading →
