Leave it to running-out-of-ideas combined with greedy production companies to piss on a beloved original in order to milk money from the masses through a sequel. Filming has started in Busan for the upcoming My Sassy Girl 2 with the return of Cha Tae Hyun (does he desperately need money?) paired with Victoria of f(x) to represent China and Fuji … Continue reading →
Holy bazookas is this upcoming J-dorama looking better and better. With less than two weeks left before the premiere of the Fuji TV getsu9 (Monday at 9) Nobunaga Concerto, the production blew me away with the release of the fantastic drama posters. I haven’t seen a single drama poster this creative with great narrative foreshadowing all year. Why can’t K-dramas … Continue reading →
It’s getting harder for My Lovely Girl (My Lovable Girl) to sell the preordained OTP when the narrative starts to tie Se Na and Shi Woo together in mutual success or failure. Sure the rise and fall of AnA hinges on developing new talent to fill the void left by the departure of Infinite Power, and conveniently that option combines Se … Continue reading →
Regardless of how the Korean version of Nodame Cantabile ends up, at least the early stills from the drama have been promising enough. I don’t have a problem with Joo Won or Shim Eun Kyung‘s sartorial styling or accuracy in mimicking a musical expert since I’m not particularly a stickler for those things. I do like that they seem to … Continue reading →
The Golden Rooster Hundred Flower Film Festival opened last weekend in Lanzhou China and this year the popular vote Hundred Flower Awards was up for grabs. It’s been yet another blockbuster year in Chinese entertainment with quite a few box office successes to crow about (har har). While the Golden Rooster Awards is the industry vote akin to the Oscars, the … Continue reading →
Hot on the heels of the he-said-they-said war of the words between Hyun Bin‘s agency and the production company of MBC‘s upcoming Kill Me Heal Me over whether or not Binnie was offered the role initially (I’ll explain it all below the jump in detail), today there is breaking casting consideration news that gets me all excited. Hyun Bin is … Continue reading →
The straightforwardness of My Lovely Girl (My Lovable Girl) continues to make it the easiest to watch K-drama around, requiring no mental gymnastics nor offering up tons of grist for discussion. It is what it is has never described a drama more aptly. After four episodes of stumbling around finding its footing, all the set up is done and episode 5 sends … Continue reading →
Those of you in living in Greater China will have a fun new movie coming up during the upcoming national holidays in Taiwan and China. The second prequel movie to Black & White will be dropping in the 1st and 2nd of October in China and Taiwan, respectively, with still only Mark Chao reprising his career starting role while Vic … Continue reading →
It’s rather unheard of to suddenly have a new favorite character(s) in a drama arrive late in the game such as in episode 12 of My Secret Hotel, and in the form of formerly barely there side roles. Hae Young’s parents have turned out to be adorable, sweet, and considerate, and in a shocking twist from being evil chaebol in-laws … Continue reading →
The now 8-member girl’s group of SNSD (Girl’s Generation) had quite the whirlwind 24-hours since any K-ent incident I can remember in years. Now former member Jessica dropped the bombshell that she had been abruptly kicked out from SNSD even as she was headed back to Korea from NYC to join her fellow members to jet to Shenzhen China for the … Continue reading →
I love this face. She can’t and doesn’t want to hide anything from the world. Her desire to make others happy stems from the motivation to enjoy her own second chance at life. Her family has protected her up to this point from anything bad happening to her, but they can’t protect her forever. They have been making decisions about her health, where … Continue reading →
As My Secret Hotel heads into the final arc of its run, the narrative convergence is bringing more and more flaws to the forefront. I’m not talking about the dragging on of the love triangle whereby Sang Hyo doesn’t even look anywhere close to giving Hae Young a second chance and is firmly on team Sung Gyum at this time. … Continue reading →
All the Korean agencies embroiled in recent scandals may want to send thank you cards and gifts to the offices of SM Entertainment. KeyEast with Kim Hyun Joong‘s domestic violence case, YG with Seungri of Big Bang‘s sketchy car accident details, BH Entertainment with both the Lee Byung Hun blackmailed by Dahee and a model mess and Han Hyo Joo‘s … Continue reading →
