Ain’t nothing this year going to top the upcoming C-drama Heirs From Another Star for hot mess potential. The drama was produced and filmed in what felt like the blink of an eye and is actually arriving in mere hours as it premieres September 19th on the major Chinese video streaming site iQiyi. It was always meant to be an … Continue reading →
Sampling and enjoying My Lovely Girl (My Lovable Girl) is a guilt-free treat for me. There’s no explanation needed for basking in warm nostalgia as this drama so breezily delivers an entire bags worth of old school K-drama romance tricks with an updated cast of players from when dramas like this were the norm a decade ago. It’s grown out … Continue reading →
I really love Jeon Ji Hyun and have loved her since My Sassy Girl and long before her recent resurgence through You From Another Star. She made that drama watchable for me despite my equal love for Kim Soo Hyun going in. I found him just so underwhelming and out of his element in the role, in the exact opposite … Continue reading →
Maybe I should write more about K-celebs that have been out of the limelight for some time because lo and behold a week after I wondered when Han Ye Seul would finally come back to acting she’s dropping a twofer on the industry. This week comes news that Leslie has signed with KeyEast Entertainment after being with SB Entertainment for … Continue reading →
I was excited enough writing about how the J-dorama version of Nodame played by Ueno Juri just happened to be in Korea at the same time that the K-drama version of Nodame Shim Eun Kyung had just started filming Tomorrow’s Cantabile. Then comes the icing on the cake seeing a picture of the two lovely ladies meeting during Juri’s visit … Continue reading →
It’s too bad that My Lovely Girl (My Lovable Girl) didn’t premiere on a Thursday because this K-drama fairly screams a perfect fit for Throwback Thursdays. There is absolutely nothing/zero/nada about MLG that hasn’t been done before and probably done better. This is the most benign and unimaginative work to arrive in a long time, yet it has one thing … Continue reading →
For both sides in a legal dispute the common element is the sense of relief and closure when the litigation comes to an end. Regardless of the outcome, closure brings the chance to pay penance or move on. With Kim Hyun Joong offering a very public apology to his ex-girlfriend for his actions leading to the assault allegations, his ex-girlfriend … Continue reading →
The pleasure of My Secret Hotel stems from the characters and situations both capturing my fancy so that I care what happens to them. The story line is all sorts of haphazard and preposterous but works nicely as a murky backdrop filled with secrets and danger. I just realized the drama is basically the game of Clue transplanted as a … Continue reading →
It’s Korean Nodame and Chiaki together! More accurately it’s Seol Nae Il and Cha Yoo Jin together at last in the first stills of the leads filming Tomorrow’s Cantabile. KBS continues to pace the release of new stills for its upcoming Mon-Tues drama, which might be a good thing if it succeeds in whetting the appetites of the viewers since … Continue reading →
When celebrities start dating there are only one of two outcomes – marriage or break up. And even the marriage option can later end with break up. I doubt we’ll be around for the til death do us part to arrive but it is still sad when the break up of two lovely celebs happens on my watch. Gong Hyo … Continue reading →
With It’s Okay, It’s Love signing off with a satisfying flourish last week, tomorrow SBS welcomes lighter fluffier fare in the Wed-Thurs time slot. The arrival of My Lovely Girl (My Lovable Girl) marks leading man Rain‘s return to television after four years as well as Krystal‘s first turn as a leading lady. I’m cool with their 12 year age … Continue reading →
On the upside the casting for the leads of the upcoming tvN cable drama Valid Love is complete. On the downside there won’t be a reunion of two time costars Uhm Tae Woong and Han Ji Min for a third go around. Bummer. Instead Uhm Tae Woong will be pairing up with Lee Shi Young as a married couple that … Continue reading →
KBS is wasting no time to strike while the interest is high in releasing promotional material for Tomorrow’s Cantabile. Following in the first two stills released yesterday of leading man Joo Won as a music conductor, the network has dropped one perfect peek at leading lady Shim Eun Kyung as an off-beat piano prodigy. Nearly everyone expected Shim Eun Kyung to … Continue reading →
