I’m not a fan of heavily photo-shopped posters whether it’s making edits to the person or editing different people onto the same shot. That’s why the first official poster for Three Musketeers is a thumbs down for me in style. It would have been more effective in this particular shot to have all four posing in the same frame trying … Continue reading →
Records of a Night Watchman is so giving me anticipation and optimism whiplash. One moment it looks so bad as to be a Saturday Night Live sketch of a fantasy sageuk, another minute I see stuff that looks decent enough to buoy my hopes again that the end result might be cool. Terrible costuming is currently the number one problem for … Continue reading →
It’s pretty middle-of-the-road for me with respect to the switch over on the SBS Wed-Thurs slot. I didn’t dislike You’re All Surrounded enough to wish it off my screen immediately, nor am I dying with excitement for It’s Okay, It’s Love to arrive. The former was serviceable albeit disappointing while the latter looks good but has the hint of not … Continue reading →
I finally have a cannot miss reason to watch Three Musketeers! Two more video teasers came out featuring Yang Dong Gun and Jung Hae In and wowsers did these two knock my socks off the way the first two with Lee Jin Wook and Jung Yong Hwa totally underwhelmed. To balance things out tvN also released new stills of Lee … Continue reading →
Is anyone still watching Fall in Love with Me? I need a quickie summary of the latest happenings onscreen since the drama has managed to lure me back to check out this Sunday’s episode 16 with the promise of topless Aaron Yan and lots of kissing. The ratings for FILWM have been quite low for the network on the Sunday night slot … Continue reading →
Japan is on a roll with Summer movies I want to watch and one just premiered this week in the form of one genre Japan does best – the shoujo high school romance. The live-action movie adaptation of the popular shoujo manga Say I Love You (好きっていいな Sukitte Ii nayo) hits all my happy spots with the casting and trailers … Continue reading →
Recapping a drama from start-to-finish is a genuine commitment. It’s not like dating and requires a break up since eventually the drama will finish on its own. But if the drama derails then the process takes on a a surreal meta quality of trying to muster enthusiasm and the analytic urge when none exists. That didn’t happen with Dr. Stranger … Continue reading →
These pictures are simultaneously adorable and slightly awkward. I can’t describe it but the body language between the leads of Pleasantly Surprised (Love Myself or You) at the magazine fan signing event make me laugh at and with them. Puff Guo and her overgrown big boy of a costar Liu Yi Hao hit up SETTV headquarters for the fan signing … Continue reading →
It’s definitely drama stills release time for Records of a Night Watchman, and like clockwork the production is running down the list of leads to release new stills every day. First came Jung Il Woo in his princely garb as ghost-seeing Lee Rin, then leading lady Go Sung Hee as a free-spirited mountain girl Do Ha, and now it’s time … Continue reading →
Joseon Gunman delivers yet another stellar episode which provides further assurance that this drama indeed has the legs for the long haul. Yoon Kang finally comes face-to-face with his little sister Yeon Ha and the emotional pain of their mutual suffering really digs deep in this episode. I don’t just want Yoon Kang to save Yeon Ha because it’s his … Continue reading →
I’m grateful You’re All Surrounded is finally over and somewhat glad that I stuck around to recap til the end. There was nothing memorable about this drama but as an entertainment offering its sheer mediocrity in every aspect makes for a strange experience to sum up. I like it but that stems from liking the two male leads Lee Seung Gi … Continue reading →
Naturally all the attention has been on the male leads of Records of a Night Watchman since Jung Il Woo is a popular established actor while Yunho has a massive fanbase from his idol activities. Add to that the drama’s two female leads in Go Sung Hee and Seo Ye Ji are both relative newbies, it’s hard to hear folks … Continue reading →
The Chinese A-list actress goddesses are falling like flies this year in terms of getting hitched and off the market. Not that the average joe, or most actors for that matter, could really ever hope to land one of these lovely ladies. The biggest news so far has been Gao Yuan Yuan marrying her younger TW-actor boyfriend Mark Chao, but … Continue reading →
