This is the chapter that cannot be missed if you’ve been reading Lost You Forever. It’s the most incredible one since the action-packed chapter where Xiao Yao was assassinated and her three men rushed one after another to contribute to saving her in their own way. This chapter 32 of LYF has been a long time coming as Xiao Yao … Continue reading →
SETTV doesn’t always have narratively good dramas but it more often than not manages to cobble together great OTP leads to make mediocre dramas a hit and turn crap dramas into a decent outing. It’s landed on the formula of using star appeal and onscreen chemistry to sustain the viewer interest, and no other drama in its recent crop personifies … Continue reading →
There will likely be more photo opportunities involving Ha Ji Won and Gong Yoo for the rest of 2014 as the two of them were officially appointed the goodwill tax ambassadors for the South Korean National Tax Service. For nearly two decades in the industry these two faves of mine have never worked together until now so I won’t look a … Continue reading →
Finally! After weeks of teasing with drama stills of all the parental and elder generational cast members in character for the upcoming fantasy sageuk Records of a Night Watchman, MBC loosened the teaser spigot today and dropped the first look at male leads Jung Il Woo and Yunho in character. To say I’m underwhelmed is an understatement. Why oh why … Continue reading →
Eeeps, I don’t know how I feel about this. On one hand, Lee Hong Ki‘s last leading lady in Bride of the Century was a relative newbie in Yang Jin Sung which worked out wonderfully all around. On the other hand, I found newbie actress Kwon Min Ah pretty awful in her last drama so my first reaction is not optimism lightning … Continue reading →
Remember how I said that in all the early teasers from It’s Okay, It’s Love showed the two leads Gong Hyo Jin and Jo In Sung giving off a more friends than lovers vibe? I added to it when the first poster was released showing the two of them buff in the bathtub, joking that they are could be llovers … Continue reading →
It’s the return of Lee Jun Ki as Iljimae version 2! Hahaha, just kidding, but doesn’t he look like it? A tiny bit of frustration and annoyance descended on Joseon Gunman in episode 6 but it’s understandable and doesn’t really cause any lasting damage to Yoon Kang’s revenge plan that wasn’t already built into his scheme. Or at least I sure hope he was … Continue reading →
The more You’re All Surrounded piles angst on Dae Gu, the more this drama lays bare its weakness and limitations as a storyteller. I grew fond of this drama in the second half and was even willing to accept basic cop 101 procedural elements as the strings to tie together decent emotional growth. But episode 18 felt like this drama … Continue reading →
There is nothing wrong with the upcoming SBS Mon-Tues drama Temptation, other than it’s dull as beans title as the fact that it looks dark and therefore guaranteed depressing. There might be nuggets of human nature wisdom to glean from it, but is it worth the trudge through downsville to experience it? I don’t know how I feel yet since … Continue reading →
There are too many reasons why I love Joseon Gunman so much but the most important reason is the narrative quality. This drama has very good storytelling which is increasingly rare. It creates a vibrant universe and fills it with interesting characters, letting the action deftly toggle moods and moments with confidence. There are tears when its appropriate with plenty of … Continue reading →
It’s nice that You’re All Surrounded isn’t bothering to dither around anymore with having the rookies dabble in random other cases to develop their skills and camaraderie. If this drama was a sitcom that approach would have worked better but it ended up being one of the trip ups in this drama. Now it’s fully excised from the narrative and everything improves … Continue reading →
The door closes on one project and opens on another. Park Hae Jin showed up at the drama wrap party for Dr. Stranger as news broke that he was headlining the upcoming cable network OCN drama Bad Boys. Woo hoo for him! He’s not just getting a prime headlining role, he’s playing a genius IQ level serial killer. The youngest … Continue reading →
Kyaaaaaa, now that’s what I call an eye-popping teaser that sells the OTP and plenty of playful cheer. The first official drama poster is out for It’s Okay, It’s Love, and I hope to god someone at SBS did their due diligence and this concept hasn’t been copied from another original source. The two leads of IOIL are shown cuddling … Continue reading →
