Kris and Zhao Li Ying Crowned King and Queen of the 2016 Weibo Awards in Beijing

Nothing looks as good as having a hottie doting fiancee by one side, and the star couple of Chen Xiao and Michelle Chen were definitely the major standout at the just held Weibo Awards in China. I feel like K-ent holds its awards at year end whereas C-ent holds it in January, before the lunar new year end. Weibo is China’s microblogging site that has been described as a mashup of Facebook and Twitter, and has a reach that is enormous and growing thanks to the Chinese population and the foreigners using it to reach the Chinese audience.

The awards aren’t really taken seriously in terms of any acting wins, but the biggest awards of the night were indeed based on popularity. The King and Queen of Weibo for 2015 is none other than Wu Yi Fan (Kris) and Zhao Li Ying, so congrats to the two buzzy stars for proving that news needn’t always be good to buoy population and name recognition. I still enjoy watching C-awards for the much more interesting red carpet style, and my fashion winner of the night was the elegant, refined, and glamorous Liu Tao. It was also nice to see more HK stars in attendance including a surprise pop up from the king of comedy himself Stephen Chow.

Kris and Zhao Li Ying Crowned King and Queen of the 2016 Weibo Awards in Beijing — 15 Comments

  1. Zhao Li Ying looks lovely in that beautiful gown. Liu Tao is glamorous! She is my favorite after watching her in Nirvana In Fire.

  2. Oh when can I watch Chen Xiao’s new drama again? Miss him much.
And Wu Lai shouldn’t look so old. He’s only 16, still a boy.

  3. wow, Liu Tao’s outfit is so graceful and elegant, but in such a standout way.

I feel like Chinese red carpets are so much more interesting than Korean ones, at least here you don’t get a million starlets showing up in bridal-looking white gowns, people actually wear colour!

  4. “so congrats to the two buzzy stars for proving that news needn’t always be good to buoy population and name recognition”

Why the need for shade? Kris got tons of recognition for his role in Mr Six and all the other casting news released this year, not to mention he’s well-loved by almost every senior in C-ent you can think of.

    • She seems bitter than Kris left Korean entertainment by sueing his slave management company. I guess she’ll have to cry into the dozens of EXO albums collecting dust on her dresser.

  5. Sorry for off topic. the banner with GHJ and Gong Yoo, for what drama is that?
I agree, Chinese red carpets are more visually appealing than Korean ones.

  6. “The King and Queen of Weibo for 2015 is none other than Wu Yi Fan (Kris) and Zhao Li Ying, so congrats to the two buzzy stars for proving that news needn’t always be good to buoy population and name recognition.”

LMAO if you’re trying to imply that Kris is only in the news for bad stuff, then you need to put down the bottle and start writing these posts sober. Kris has tons of movie roles, is getting love from Hollywood, has huge fashion industry moguls talking about how much they love him, is getting shout outs from NBA stars, even male netizens respect Kris for being invited to the NBA all stars and shaving his head for roles, throwing away his pretty boy image. Not to mention there have been articles about how he’s moving away from being a “Fresh meat” to a full blown publically recognized actors because of his works.

You sound like a bitter SM stan. If you’re concerned, you needn’t be – EXO is clearly doing fine. Build a bridge and get over it.

    • I don’t think koala had any implication to belittle Kris. You’re too sensitive. Kris is very popular and getting even more popular nowadays after transforming himself to be an actor. But he’s still got a lot of room to improve his acting compared with other C veteran actors.

    • BTW, Ms Koala has never been an avid Kpop fan, unlike me. LOL…Her main interest is in drama and her blog has been mainly focusing on drama. Everything she talks about is DRAMA relevant. Don’t get worked up just bcos she did not heap praises to someone you like.

  7. Brandy, Sorry for the late comment…just came to this channel to look at ZLY and found your comments. Have to agree with Drama2016 about Kris. I don’t like him and don’t care for Kpop, hollywood or nba. Like Ms Koala, I only like drama and he is not the only one who shaves head for roles so it’s no big deal. Sorry to rain on your parades. You have your like and we have ours too.
