The Ji Soo fallout took all of four days, I think Joseon Exorcist getting cancelled took three days, and now in less than two days Seo Ye Ji has gone from newly minted Baeksang Best Actress nominee to persona non grata in K-ent. I don’t know if she’s done permanently or will go on hiatus to try and make a … Continue reading →
I’ve been through countless K-scandals and the process is always the same: shocking reveal, silence, either admit but add explanation or admit some part of it/deny others, and finally apologize and reflect. Seo Ye Ji may have been pulled into the conflict between Kim Jung Hyun and his current agency which he is trying to leave, and therefore text messages … Continue reading →
Seeing a drama take one fantasy/sci-fi concept and do it as well as tvN drama Awaken (Night and Day) did feels even more special in light of watching the burning dumpster fire that was Sisyphus: The Myth. Awaken dealt with immortality and did do a solid job of stringing together the mystery, piecemeal reveals, and decently satisfying conclusion. I do … Continue reading →
Remember when what happened to KBS drama River Where the Moon Rises was like the biggest news in K-ent? Oh what a month does to keep one upping another in terms of wild news and crazy scandals. River has now settled back down to just being a mediocre sageuk that might have actually benefitted from losing a leading man, it … Continue reading →
This week’s news report that K-actress Seo Ye Ji was the alleged ex-girlfriend to Kim Jung Hyun who played a controlling role in the Time drama production debacle three years ago could not have come at a worse time for her. Her agency has not released a statement responding to the allegations first reported by Dispatch nearly 24 hours ago, … Continue reading →
A quick housekeeping first, next weekend there will not be new episodes of Vincenzo as the production announced this week it will take a one week break in order to have more time to deliver the best final four episodes remaining. I’m all for that and grateful for the awe inducing ending to this Sunday’s episode 16 even more as … Continue reading →
The fallout and alleged reveals continue to dig up painful memories from three years ago in 2018 on the production of MBC drama Time. Male lead Kim Jung Hyun was noticeably awkward and reserved with female lead Seohyun at the press conference and then departed the drama midway reportedly due to mental health issues. He got both flack for being … Continue reading →
Gosh, they grow up so fast. Every time I see an actor come back from South Korea’s mandatory military service I will have known that my kids are two years older and it’s just a bittersweet feeling. Singer-actor Jinyoung (Jung Jin Young) of B1A4 and Moonlight Drawn by Clouds and Persevere, Goo Hae Ra has completed his army service after … Continue reading →
I’ll preface this post by saying that I believe all the negative news stories coming out this week on K-actor Kim Jung Hyun is due to his contract dispute with his agency, he wants to end it early and sign with another agency reportedly Culture Depot which reps his former costar Seo Ji Hye. Kim Jung Hyun’s career was on … Continue reading →
KBS Mon-Tues sageuk River Where the Moon Rises is rounding into the final stretch and everyone must be exhausted and deserving of that sigh of relief when it’s all done. Next week’s episode 17 is confirmed to have a time jump that turns the teenage crown prince into adult broody Kwon Hwa Woon, which means no more drunk and guilt-ridden … Continue reading →
Muahahahahaha, I can’t believe I’m going to so easily forgive a screenwriter for what this one did to get Vincenzo himself out of a jam to start episode 15 but it’s simultaneously ridiculous and ties back to earlier well laid…..bird feed shall we say. On the cusp of a mafia execution, who comes to Vincenzo’s aide none other than noisy … Continue reading →
I know disappointing K-dramas abound more than actually good ones, it’s a law of averages as well as how hard it is to make a great series from beginning to end with so many unknowns including acting, chemistry, writing, and directing. I haven’t written much about KBS Wed-Thurs series Hello? It’s Me! but it’s been my comfort blanket for the … Continue reading →
Woah, I was so not expecting to see street filming shots already but clearly production is underway and upcoming romance drama Now, We Are Breaking Up is happening whether we think its a good idea or not. A K-netizen posted a street shot of leading lady Song Hye Kyo taken this week on the streets of Seoul as she’s filming … Continue reading →
