The first movie stills are out for upcoming Korean period zombie film Outbreak (Rage) starring Hyun Bin and Jang Dong Gun. What was already primed to be a box office hit even had a third leading man in Kim Joo Hyuk in a cameo role but alas this film would be the final film in Kim Joo Hyuk’s to-do list … Continue reading →
I don’t live in a country that celebrates White Day, i.e. White Valentine’s Day or exactly a month after February 14th Valentine’s Day. Hence my mistake in the last post on the upcoming Cheese in the Trap movie which is scheduled to premiere next month on March 14th which is White Valentine’s Day and I saw the Valentine’s Day and … Continue reading →
Oooooh, me likey scruffy period attire Jo In Sung! The actor hasn’t been in the spotlight much this past year and turns out he’s been filming the period K-movie Ansi Fortress which has wrapped and is in post-production for a second half 2018 premiere in theaters. He plays General Yang Man Chun, a famed Gorguyeo commander of the titular Ansi … Continue reading →
I’m not sure who the target audience is for the Cheese in the Trap movie but if there are any then the film has been confirmed to hit the theaters on Valentine’s Day weekend of 2018. That’s less than a month away and there hasn’t been any promos yet so that’s not going to bring in the audience by stealth. … Continue reading →
Wowsers does this movie have legs, or movie-going audience eyeballs judging from the box office. For the first time in two years a K-movie has entered the top 10 highest grossing Korean movies of all time list, at current standing the fantasy movie Along With the Gods has just over 13 million tickets sold placing it 4th on the list. … Continue reading →
There’s a new number 2 in town and it came right at the very end on the last day of the year. On December 31st, the fantasy movie Along With the Gods surpassed 8 million tickets sold in the theaters, putting it in the second highest grossing box office K-movie of 2017 just ahead of Confidential Assignment. First place remains … Continue reading →
Now this is what I call a legit huge casting news – after months of casting calls and a worldwide search, Disney has cast C-actress Crystal Liu (Liu Yi Fei) in the titular role of Mulan for the upcoming live-action remake. The Disney live-action remakes of it’s own animated movies have been blockbusters for the company, with Jungle Book, Cinderella, … Continue reading →
When I heard of this remake it was the rare instances where I think it’s a good idea. Korean has bought the rights to hit 2007 Taiwanese time-travel high school romance movie Secret starring Jay Chou and Gwei Lun Mei. The remake will hit the theaters in 2018 with the setting changed from high school to college. The movie not … Continue reading →
I’m so amused by Hyun Bin‘s latest looks, mostly because I can’t figure out if I like it or not. It’s not the best showcase for Binnie’s insanely handsome features but I do like that he’s changing things up, and for this latest look at the press conference for caper movie The Swindlers I totally came away with a theme. … Continue reading →
The year end holiday season will have a star-studded big-budget K-movie to look forward to, and hopefully end the Korean box office for 2017 on a high note. Fantasy death movie Along With the Gods (Two Worlds) is adapted from the same name webtoon about the death trials of a firefighter played by Cha Tae Hyun who experiences the trials … Continue reading →
J-actress Aragaki Yui is one of my faves since her debut and it’s been a sweet ride seeing her career new high in this recent year with hit doramas Nigeru wa haji daga, yaku ni tatsu (We Married as a Job) followed by Code Blue 3. Her next project is the October 2017 romantic comedy sports movie Mix about a ping … Continue reading →
I’m happy that K-actress Moon Geun Young is all recovered after her medical scare and hospitalization earlier this year, and even happier that her return to work comes with a finished project ready to premiere. Promos are ramping up for psychological thriller movie Glass Garden, which Moon Geun Young filmed last year and has been selected as the opening night … Continue reading →
Japan is certainly on a movie remake spree and picking off really prime source material. There’s the J-movie remake of Taiwanese 2011 hit movie You Are the Apple of My Eye coming along, and now also comes the J-movie remake of Korean hit movie Sunny on its way. The J-version is called Sunny: Strong Mind Strong Love (Sunny: Tsuyoi Kimochi … Continue reading →
