Consider me pleasantly pleased with everything I’ve seen so far from upcoming sageuk movie The Sound of a Flower (Dorihwaga). Starring Suzy and Ryu Seung Ryung, the movie chronicles the life of the real first female pansori singer Jin Chae Sun, and her mentor as well as pansori legend Shin Jae Hyo. It’s basically the movie and pansori version of … Continue reading →
I’m so happy that Lee Jun Ki is doing the Hollywood movie Resident Evil 6 with Milla Jovovich, even if the movie is yet another forgettable shoot ’em up blockbuster. He looks genuinely thrilled and happy from all the pictures he’s been posting from the set down in South America, sometimes an actor just wants to have some fun and … Continue reading →
Suzy‘s casting as the female lead opposite Kim Woo Bin in 2016’s highly anticipated Ā melodrama Arbitrarily Fond by screenwriter Lee Kyung Hee has certainly garnered buzz, but it’s a mixed bag that seems to be the typical reaction following any Suzy casting in an acting role. Her fans can’t wait to see her onscreen while non-fans just want a good … Continue reading →
This past summer saw a homegrown Taiwan movie win the box office and the hearts the movie going audience. Coming of age romance Our Times starring Vivian Sung and Darren Wang exploded at the box office and did better than any pundits could have expected, though I wasn’t surprised since the movie looked fantastic from first glance and never stopped … Continue reading →
Upcoming sageuk K-movie The Joseon Magician has been all about male lead Yoo Seung Ho in the promos, for good reason since he’s the titular Joseon Magician and this drama will be his first acting project since his military discharge. That’s almost three years with no Seung Ho-ssshi onscreen, can’t blame folks (i.e. me) for being fiendishly focused on him. … Continue reading →
This is a most excellent onscreen pairing, and it’s an opinion I have even without watching them together, and even if the movie ends up a dud. Whoever thought to bring together Taiwanese actor Bolin Chen and Korean actress Son Ye Jin was doing more than picking popular star names out of a hat, these two have very similar acting … Continue reading →

C-writer/producer Guo Jingming has been flying high for well over a decade in C-ent, thanks to popular novels and later adaptations into even more popular hits like the Tiny Times movie series. His first novel Ice Fantasy is currently getting a C-drama adaptation with Feng Shao Feng and Victoria Song, but the bigger attention is focused on his self-produced 3D … Continue reading →
The movie gods clearly know how to whet my appetite for upcoming sageuk movie The Joseon Magician – more Yoo Seung Ho, please! The movie is part Joseon era royal politics and part road trip romance movie, with Go Ara‘s Joseon princess traveling to the Qing dynasty for her arranged marriage only to encounter love along the way with a … Continue reading →
Are those flowers for me, Jun Ki-sshi? Clearly not, as my manĀ was looking mighty dapper recently attending theĀ Korea Drama Awards to receive a prize. It has been an odd year being a Lee Jun Ki super fan, I loved that he was cast in Scholar Who Walks the Night as the role being perfectly suited for him, but the drama … Continue reading →
It’s like the producers of upcoming fantasy sageuk movie Joseon Magician knew exactly which of my buttons to push when it comes to male lead Yoo Seung Ho. Stick in in a flowy long hair wig to bring back all the devastating memories from his sageuk turns in Warrior Baek Dong Soo and Arang and the Magistrate? Check. It’s like … Continue reading →
It’s certainly amusing that Yoo Seung Ho‘s first post-military project is the sageuk movie The Joseon Magician (see awesome first movie poster above – swoooooon), he’s clearly got some magical powers how else to explain this latest casting news. Apparently it’s not going to be SBS regular Lee Jong Seok in upcoming Wed-Thurs thriller drama Remember, but is instead going … Continue reading →
Upcoming C-movieĀ Go Lala Go 2 is doing everything all right when it comes to promoting the drama. The production is selling the heck out of three unbelievably talented and good looking leads in Ariel Lin, Vic Zhou, and Bolin Chen. The second set of official character posters has dropped and is different enough from the first to see that thought … Continue reading →
