I don’t know what it is about Extravagant Challenge, but I find myself strangely protective of it. Perhaps it’s because the drama was originally slated to headline Ariel Lin (my fave TW-actress), and then went through two years of development hell before it was finally greenlit. But by then Ariel had left and Ivy Chen stepped in, a switch I … Continue reading →
Count on Mainland China to overreact to a trend. At the annual meeting of cinematic producers this past week, the advisory counsel apparently set down an edict to (1) halt all adaptions of the Four Classics (which I approve), and (2) frown heavily on the recent spate of time-travel dramas (which makes me LOL until my belly hurts). Really? Tell … Continue reading →
After wrapping the upcoming drama Mei Le, Go and The Other Shore 1945, respectively, both Mike He and Vic Zhou have selected a movie as their next project. By the cursed movie fates, and to my utter horror, the leading lady for both men will be Ella. I let out a high-pitched shriek when I read this, and then started … Continue reading →
After filming intermittently for the past 6 months, which is quite long for a TW-idol drama (typical filming length is 3 months), Vanness Wu just tweeted today (accompanied by the sepia-tinted picture below) that filming has finally wrapped for Material Queen, which co-stars supermodel-actress Lynn Xiong. MQ has been plagued with production woes, notably its two stars being quite upset … Continue reading →
My Girl used to be one of my favorite rom-coms, since it was one of my first K-drama rom-coms. I wished I had never rewatched it years later, where I really couldn’t stand the story or the acting. But I choose to remember it fondly from my initial impression. Bearing that in mind, I was actually curious about the upcoming … Continue reading →
There must be something in the air around here, because I am way more excited about upcoming TW-dramas than I am about upcoming K-dramas (with the exception of Best Love). GTV is totally on a roll these days, it has Hayate the Combat Butler completed, and now Extravagant Challange, its long-awaited live-action adaptation of the manga Skip Beat finally starts … Continue reading →
SETTV‘s upcoming idol drama Drunken to Love You  starring Rainie Yang and Joseph Chang has tapped two very intriguing second leads. This will be second male lead Kingone Wang‘s third drama with Rainie, and will also mark his third time not getting Rainie in a drama. Second female lead is Tiffany Hsu, who has lately gotten more publicity for being Ethan … Continue reading →
Tea? Someone thought of the brilliant plan to pair up Vic Zhou and Ariel Lin just to sell tea? Oh my lord, my head hurts because I want so much more than that. However inane and fleeting, the pairing up of my two favorite TW-actors back in 2008 is like a Koala’s dream come true. If I won the lottery, … Continue reading →
Recently Mike He, who just wrapped the drama Mei Le, Go co-starring Cyndi Wang, was asked about the steamy wedding night kissing scene he filmed with Janine Chang in Sunny Happiness. Apparently audience spotted tongue, and he claims that he has developed the ability to make it seem like he’s french kissing his co-star but he actually isn’t. Um, yeah, you … Continue reading →
I’m confused, when did Ming Dao suddenly become producer-writer Yu Zheng (the man behind this Season’s ratings hit time-travel historical drama Jade Palace Lock Heart) best friend and go-to main lead? First news broke that JPLH is going to have a movie sequel, which somehow wouldn’t focus on the drama OTP but instead have Ming Dao playing the lead general. … Continue reading →
GTV announced yesterday that shooting will commence on March 31, 2011 for Extravagant Challange, its long-delayed drama adaptation of the manga Skip Beat. The two male leads Choi Si Won and Lee Dong Hae of the K-pop group Super Junior will be arriving in Taiwan next week, and is expected to live there for four months during the shooting for … Continue reading →
Sunny Happiness has only a few more weeks of competitionless airing on Sunday nights. Drunken to Love You has been given the firm start date of April 17, 2011, which means Channel X has only a few more episodes to continue to torment me with its completely insane plot and acting. The production held a press conference over the weekend … Continue reading →
If you guys only knew how difficult this was to find. There were no torrents, no downloads, no streaming video – zip, zilch, nada. Episode 6 of the CTV airing of Sunny Happiness, which so happens to contain the complete uncut wedding night scene, was impossible to find after the episode aired this weekend. Word spread like wildfire that Mainland … Continue reading →
