So this C-drama with Zhao Li Ying was supposed to have been cast already but pre-production and budgeting is taking longer so it’s now really locking down the male lead role but with the added success of her currently airing xianxia drama The Legend of Shen Li. Zhao Li Ying signed on for the female lead centric S-level budgeted C-drama … Continue reading →
Okay gurl, just chill your horses and preserve the goodwill. C-actress Ju Jing Yi was seen as the victim in the billing fight in her last drama Sword and Fairy 4 with Chen Zhe Yuan and that was an invaluable impressions helping to defray the complaints about her same flat acting in every drama. Her currently airing drama In Blossom … Continue reading →
A very promising new C-drama is being prepped and I’m loving the director and story and intrigued by the younger fresher face casting. The drama is adapted from the wuxia and romance novel titled Ten Years Lantern On A Rainy Night in the Martial Arts World (江湖夜雨十年灯) by the same novel writer Guan Xin Zhe Luan of Love Like the Galaxy … Continue reading →
In C-slang “smacking shirt” means to wear the same outfit, and it happens often enough with the actresses but fairly rarely with the actors. But in the same week actors Gong Jun and Deng Wei not only fully smacked shirt, they smacked in the most ostentatious way possible with all hot pink suit ensemble. Hate to tell these two that … Continue reading →
Well C-actor Cheng Lei certainly has parlayed his chemistry laden supporting male lead turn in My Journey to You last you into an even smexier male lead upgrade in the just finished filming period C-drama Legend of the Female Lead. With that title and top billed female lead Zhou Ye as a strong female-centric story, I’m here for Cheng Lei … Continue reading →
After more behind-the-scenes drama before it even started filming than needed to be, the C-drama Love on the Turquoise Land kicked off production this week with leads Dilraba Dilmurat and Chen Xing Xu. Everyone involved seem happy with this, her fans like him, his fans like her, both sides are good with the billing order, and the production gets to … Continue reading →
So C-drama In Blossom with Ju Jing Yi and Liu Xue Yi has turned into a surprise underdog, doing better in viewership, buzz, and reviews than expected. It’s not a hit just doing better than anyone thought and is just one third through its run so could turn into a smallish hit by the end. Another surprise is supporting actress … Continue reading →
So the first three months of 2024 in C-drama land felt like it was the opening act of a major concert, good but nowhere near the explosive engagement that a top level star can bring. So many C-dramas with some even big budget A level but nothing to bring out the expansive viewership, buzz, and online chatter that past major … Continue reading →
C-actress Bai Lu continues her drama-to-drama filming streak, I genuinely don’t remember seeing her take any time off. She just wrapped Moonlight Mystique and next month will start filming the period C-drama Heng Men You Hou (衡门有狐 There is a Fox in Hengmen). Her male lead is Zeng Shun Xi (Joseph Zeng) who has grown on me, I still am … Continue reading →
Well I’m certainly happy with this casting lol. A new C-drama will start filming next month in April and the leads are Jing Tian and Alen Fang (Fang Yi Lun) adapted from the novel The Brocaded Tale of The Girl Si (似锦 Si Jin). Jing Tian drops chemistry with every one of her male leads and I’m so thankful Alen’s … Continue reading →
So I don’t know if this is really happening but he did say it publicly and if its true then it’s a loss for C-ent. C-actor Xu Zheng Xi (Jeremy Tsui) posted on his Weibo a message saying farewell to his spot as an actor, thanking fans for their longtime support, and apologizing for creating any trouble. If he is … Continue reading →
So we likely won’t see this C-drama until 2025 but I’m hopeful the ample post-production time will deliver a stellar visual product, on top of hoping the script and directing is good. The Legend of Jewelry finished its 5 month shoot this week and the cast led by leads Zhao Lu Si and Liu Yu Ning celebrated with a wrap … Continue reading →
So this is a high profile IP project for the C-drama Tales of Dark River adapted from the same name novel and anime. It’s a wuxia and assassin tale with a strong male lead character and will be starring Gong Jun in the lead role.
