MBC to Preempt Well-reviewed New Fri-Sat Drama Tracer with Im Shi Wan, Go Ah Sung, and Son Hyun Joo for 3 Weeks to Air the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I feel like all K-dramas are going to get shafted for the first three weeks of February once the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics kicks off. That’s fine its the prerogative for the networks to air what they wish but for viewers it really does stem any momentum. On the heel of SBS preempting its Fri-Sat drama Through the Darkness (Those … Continue reading →

KBS Adds Na In Woo as New Permanent Member of Variety Show 1 Night 2 Days in the Spot Vacated by Kim Sun Ho

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I don’t know if I want K-actor Na In Woo to do a three-fer in this category of being the replacement player but he’s certainly making the most of it. The production of long running KBS variety show 2 Days & 1 Night (1 Night 2 Days or 1N2D) has announced a new permanent member in Na In Woo, clearly … Continue reading →

Viewers Frustrated with SBS Scheduling Decision to Preempt Kim Nam Gil Weekend Drama Through the Darkness for 3 Weeks to Air Winter Olympics

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

K-actor Kim Nam Gil definitely owes SBS for giving him his first major male lead role in Bad Guy after he broke out with MBC drama Queen Seondeok. But the network bungled BG a bit by preempting it multiple times for sports coverage and each time it came back the episodes ratings would drop. It’s hard to watch a drama … Continue reading →

Song Kang Looks Distractingly Like a College Intern Character in New Stills from jTBC Romance Forecasting Love and Weather

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Once the leads are cast in dramas its out of my hands and I just pray it all works out. For age difference gapped leads I also hope the drama explains why their characters fall for each other (personality and situation) and also style them to look visually compatible. With upcoming jTBC drama Forecasting Love and Weather (Office Romance Cruelty), … Continue reading →

Lee Seung Gi Confirmed as Male Lead in Summer 2022 KBS Rom-com Drama Love by Law

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I feel like my boy Lee Seung Gi has spent the greater part of the last decade trying to prove he’s a “real” actor and he didn’t have to but I’m really happy he did. His first major part was in the Famous Chil Princesses, a daily drama, and then he followed that up with rom-coms Brilliant Legacy/Shining Inheritance and … Continue reading →

Yoo Yeon Seok and Taeyeon Among Many K-stars Speaking Out and Condemning the Cruel Filming Technique Leading to Death of a Horse During Filming of KBS Sageuk Taejong Lee Bang Won

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Accidents happen on filming sets, some more negligent then others due to preparation and careful execution, but the death of a retired race horse last week from filming a falling scene in KBS weekend sageuk Taejong Lee Bang Won was absolutely preventable because the injuries sustained by the horse were from intentional acts to get it to fall. The cruelty … Continue reading →

K-ent Declares tvN Sat-Sun Fantasy Drama Bulgasal a Disappointment After Sky High $40 Billion Budget Nets Ratings in the 3%-4% Range

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I totally forgot how much tvN Sat-Sun fantasy drama Bulgasal cost to make because it just seemed rather low key since it premiered that I put it with other regular fantasy dramas like Tale of the Nine Tales and the like. But it’s not, it’s a $40 billion won drama that is second in price tag to the ambitious Arthdal … Continue reading →

K-netizen Sentiment Finally Turns Back Towards jTBC Drama Snowdrop After Multiple Episodes Reveal it’s a North Korean Hostage Drama and Not Distorting the History of the Student Democracy Movement of the late 1980’s

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

The saga of jTBC drama Snowdrop will be one for the history books in terms of it being a Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride sort of misconception combined with miscommunication. After 7-episodes worth of storytelling showing that the drama is really a North Korean soldiers hostage taking of a female student dorm combination with politics as a backdrop, there can be … Continue reading →
